I sat there for what felt like hours, I felt like stress and anger were pouring out of every orifice that I had.
I decided to finally push myself up, standing up and walking away. A straight face glued to me, the same exact face I made for a while when I came here. I just walked, no idea as to where I was going.
After about half an hour, I heard steps behind me, I turned quickly and wrapped my hand around the neck of whoever was following me. When I looked up, I saw the iconic mismatched eyes looking at me. For the first time with fear in his eyes, he smiled.
I removed my hand, "Sorry, Kai."
"It's okay."
I stared at him for another second, before turning back around and walking to my unknown destination.
"May I ask where it is you are going?"
"Anywhere. Wherever my feet take me."
"I thought you were staying with us, staying for the war, for F-Farris."
"Not anymore," I whispered, without even looking at Kai, who was now walking right next to me.
He looked at my face, then at my now bruised hand, my ruffled shirt.
"What happened, Cami?"
"Nothing, absolutely nothing."
"You're lying. Your face shows little or fake emotion when you're lying. And you ball your hand into a fist, just like you're doing right now."
I looked at him now, "How did you know that?"
"I'm alot like you, Cam. I'm observant, I notice little things about people."
I stayed silent. Not a word was spoken between either of us. I looked around, we were by the place that we first met, the rubble.
"Remember this place?" He asked.
"Yes, of course I do."
"I lied a little when we met, the rubble is pretty stable up there," he laughed, an amazing, cheery, contagious laugh. I laughed along with him.
"Why'd you lie about it?"
"I wanted you on the ground, so I could get a better look at you. Even then I..."
"You, what?"
"Even then, I was absolutely amazed by you. If I had the chance, I would've left Capri in the blink of an eye. But that was then."
"And now?"
"Now. I wouldn't be able to leave anyone. But I would still take that chance in an instant."
"And if I told you why I was upset earlier?"
"I would be very grateful that you told me."
"I walked in on Farris screwing another woman. Then we talked for a while. I'm not upset, I'm just disappointed. I'm mad at myself because I opened up to him in that way so easily."
He sat down at a water fountain, that was still running, "You shouldn't be mad at yourself. You didn't know him at the time, you couldn't have expected him to do something like that."
I sat next to him, looking into his mismatched eyes. I didn't say anything, nothing at all. I didn't need words to talk to Kai. I could just look at him and he could understand what I want.
