~Farris POV~
I saw Kale busy with someone lying on the ground. I saw Cami go to turn before she was hit in the back of the head with a branch.
This was all happening in slow motion in my eyes. It felt slow but it still felt like it happened in seconds.
Her hand flew to where she was hit, the other went to break her fall. Her attacker threw the knife into her back, and I watched her shirt almost instantly soak.
I ran towards the attacker, yelling and screaming. I tackled her before she knew what was happening. I blindly threw punches, my face already soaking in tears.
"You spineless little wench!" I didn't want to have to do this to a girl, but we're in war, it was bound to happen. I wrapped my hands around her throat and choked her out.
"Kale! Little help over here!" I yelled over to her. She had acknowledged what had happened, but she just stood there in shock.
When I called out to her, she ran and slid gracefully next to her. She took the knife from her back. She broke it in half, cutting her hand in the process, and threw the pieces at the wall near Blu's body.
"Help me lift her, we need to take her inside," I said to her.
We couldn't lift her very far, she kept thrashing her arms. We heard Blu cough and Kale ran back over there.
Blu was trying to take the knife out. Kale simply stepped on the knife, pushing it deeper into her. She pushed in to a point where the handle was barely visible.
She ran back and slid once again next to Cameira.
"What do we do?" I asked as I moved next to her.
"I don't know. Shit, her eyes are closing. No no no, Cam, no please stay with us."
A westerner came toward us, "Where's Bl- oh. There she is."
He backed up and stood where he could be heard.
"Westerners! Fall out! I repeat, fall out! Blu is dead, get out of here. We've lost too many people, fighting is a lost cause now. Oh and Kai! Your group just killed my sister, you can bet I'll be back."
With this weak shouts spread throughout the streets nearby and running was heard. What was left of the first and now last wave of Westerners were gone.
Easterners came to where we were and helped us take an unconscious, but still alive, Cameira inside.
The stab wound on her back and arm were stitched. She looked so pale. She had lost so much blood, her wrist was broken, her shoulder was dislocated.
"She's gonna be okay? Right?" I asked the woman who was looking at her injuries.
"Farris, that all depends on whether she wakes up or not. I've done what I can do, it's up to her now."
"There must be something, there has to be!"
"Maybe before the Fall. But now, there's not much else I can do except change her dressings when I need to. I don't want to push her arm back into place in fear of forcefully waking her and disorienting her."
"Okay," I simply nodded and sat on the chair next to her bed. She was back in her room.
She was home now.
