Chapter 8 – The Scene of Ruins
The Airship landed in an open field to the North of Treyah. Judging from the travel time, this place was quite a distance from Treyah as they were now in a new region known as the Kuluac continent. Their vehicle landed on the grassy plains as it let out a set of stairs. Seiryu was the first one to get down as he examined the area. Lucian, Fran and the others soon followed as they have all converged now as a group.
“Intel said that the cathedral is near here.” Julia said as she was the last one to get down from the ship. She then faced Terrah, but as soon as she was about to ask her if this was the right place, she saw Terrah was already walking towards the direction of the Sanctum.
Seiryu and the rest of the group followed after the nun and after a few strides across the field, the group eventually winded up in front of what’s left of the Sanctum Dei Gaia.
“Damn…” Zaix said as he saw the sight of the ruins.
“Those fiends…” Fran said too.
The group now went closer and eventually inside the ruins. They saw a few bodies that Terrah had not cleansed on the floor, collapsed bearings of the building and broken furniture everywhere
Fran and Julia walked towards to the altar while Zaix and Melfice went on and examined the eastern hallway rooms. Terrah went to the west wing as she looked through the rubble for clues.
Seiryu walked on the main area of worship and Lucian was behind him.
“This place hits a little too close to home.” The long haired student said out loud. The Sanctum cathedral did remind him about the orphanage he and Hegel stayed as children.
“What do you mean?” Lucian asked him.
“Makes me wanna go and see Matron. Wonder how she’s doing?” he said with a serious look on his face.
“I’m sorry.” The calm student said to him in an attempt to sympathize with the long haired student.
“No need.” Seiryu replied to him.
“What was it like?” the calm student asked him.
“What was what like?” the long haired student replied to him.
“Being an orphan.” Lucian said in a straightforward manner.
“Nothing much. You get to be with some kids, wait to be adopted and the whole jargon. In my case I ran away.” He added.
“So we have been told.” Lucian replied to him.
“Then you should know the story.” Seiryu replied as he carried on walking.
Fran and Julia on the other hand examined the altar to find clues left by the Sentis members. The latter seemed observant on looking as she was checking every nook and cranny. The blond just continued to look around casually.
“They’ve caused quite a damage here huh?” Fran said out loud.
“Quite observant are you?” Julia replied to her but there was a hint of sarcasm in her tone.
“Geez you’re just like Seiryu.” The blonde replied to her.
“Am not.” She replied quickly as she minded her own business afterwards. “You could help by looking around too.” She retorted at her.
“Geez you don’t have to be so bossy.” Fran replied to her and she as well began to look around more in an in-depth manner.
In the Eastern Hallway, Zaix and Melfice walked around and looked through the damaged parts of the cathedral. They were examining as well but as the two of them were looking, thoughts of Elle began to be prevalent in Melfice’s mind.
