Rey's POV:
I stood there frozen in place, my hands clutching on those of my sobbing daughter. My heart was already beating inside my mouth, waiting for the final answer.
Anxiety rose in my head, muscles and every other part of my fragile body, waiting for this pain to be finally over.
The crowd is unbelievably silent, letting even a bee to be heard in the air. Their patience is already wearing off, their fists closed, their legs hitting on the brown ground.
Some of the children nearby, closed their eyes, scared of the sight that might be presented in front of their tiny eyes.
"Do you think my child, that that is good enough cause to let this evil man live?" My father uttered confidently. His icy eyes scanning the mass of people glaring at his majesty, their eyes filled with terror and insecurity.
"Yes, your majesty." I murmured, my eyes red from crying, my mouth dry from stress.
"Come down here Rey, stand in front of your king, and answer me surely. You are a princess, after all, I do respect your fair opinion." I sustained the tears from spilling out, and moved down the golden marble stairs.
He is right, I must show courage in front of his eyes, I must fight for the dignity of my family, like a true member of the royal bloodline.
The path that led down to the wide garden, seemed longer than ever before, making it feel like I am walking eternally. Dorothylla was just behind my heels, her steps echoing on the massive stairs. I closed my eyes for a brief moment and turned towards my daughter.
She stopped at her pace the right second, her dark eyes piercing into mine. For the first time in days I had a proper look at her. She is paler than ever before, her cheeks slightly dried out. The dark night eyes that used to sparkle with pure sensitiveness, were now subdued with glimpse of vulnerability, and that is a sight no mother can stand to watch.
I caressed her silky wavy hair and kissed her forehead, leaving a sparkle of motherly warmth onto her skin. My eyes glittered just by looking at my baby and a small smile creeped on my lips.
"Go darling, this isn't a place for small child to be." She glanced at me her eyes filled with sudden fear.
"What do you mean mommy?" Her voice was summoned by concern.
"No children's eyes should see things such as this, you are a princess now, go to your chambers and eat something, it will make you some good."
"No mommy, I want to see what will happen to dad. Please."
"Let me handle this, but I will never forgive myself if all your life you have to carry distressed memories such as this, they will hunt you like tigers, till your last day, and as a mother I won't allow it. Never. Trust me, I will do anything in my power to save him, but you must promise me to stay safe, this for your good."
Warm tears rolled down her round cheeks, but she said nothing. Her small body turned towards the stairs again, leaving the current place she stood. I did the same but something stopped me.
It was her loving voice.
"Please save him mom, I miss him, and I love him with all my heart."
"I will try."
And those were the last words that escaped my mouth before I entered that dark garden.
"Now I question you again, do you believe this is a good enough reason to let this dreadful man live?" The king raised his hands high in the air, sick grin across his lips.
My abdomen turned into jelly, but still I continued, certain in my power and strong will.
"Yes, your majesty" I repeated, each word said carefully.
"Look at this scene, my beloved people!" He shouted in his deep voice. "She wants to save this...this no human, the man that did many terrors to you, along with his sinister family. Their plan is obvious, they want to destroy us, our entire race! You know why? Because we are different, we think with our own minds, and we are against their politics. And...the most painful thing is that they want to do it...by using my own daughter...against me...against all of us. Kill h..."
His face is sharp, his eyes destined to accomplish what they already started. He is going to do it, I feel it in my own soul, there is no going back.
"No! That's not true. He never participated in their plans, he was seduced by the dark side because of different reasons. And that was enough despair for his family, that was their verdict, and he paid enough, they all did.
Now he is different, they all are...Please father, you are not the man my mother once knew, you are different, cruel and selfish. Trying to fix the past that is already long gone...face it, she won't return.
But if you kill him now, you will be the same like them, you will take my lover from me, after you have already taken my child. It is the same story over and over again, without an ending. Stop this blood sheading already, and let us live in peace in harmony. That way you may...retrieve your long lost daughter, and get to know your real family. You won't be alone anymore, you will have us."
Everyone is staring at me wide eyed, their iris filled with crystal tears, small smiles on their mixed faces. The crowd is definitely on my side, and it makes me proud.
The king closed his mouth, his facial expression same as the one of the public, he was awed, and it gave more power in my body than ever before.
Grin suddenly spread on his lips, but it wasn't sick like anymore...it was honest...it was a grin of a father.
"Said like a true princess of Amerath. Guards release him, and release all of the prisoners in the dungeons. It is time to return things on the right path." His eyes were not weary and icy anymore, but warm and ocean like.
I couldn't believe my ears, joyfulness spread in my veins, my voice crowded with happiness. I glanced towards my amazed husband, who embraced me softly in his warm hands. Tears of joy spilling from our eyes.
The citizens also cheered and waved with their hands. Some of them were even singing with happiness, and made my heart full.
"Long live princess Rey!" They called in the same tone." Long live princess Rey!" They repeated again and again.
"Long live princess Rey." Ben joined them, and I giggled. He kissed me passionately on the lips.
"I love you." He commented.
"I love you too." I replied back, before kissing him again, and again.
Guys, how are you? :D
