Beautiful Chaos

Chapter 2

Lakshita's P.O.V ---

I woke up to hear yelling downstairs. I groaned and sat up on my bed, stretching my limbs. I yawned looking at the clock and it was 7 a.m. I was running late for school. I quickly jumped out of my bed and rushed into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and took a hot shower and walked out, a towel wrapped around me. I picked out a pastel colored skater skirt and a white elbow sleeve length top. I dried myself and wore them on. My hair was let down to flow down my back, with a side partition. I applied Kohl and a little lip moisturizer.

I grabbed my phone, school bag and sprinted downstairs to see my brother, Siddharth fighting with his girlfriend Anna. I sighed and grabbed an apple from the kitchen, walking outside. I drove myself to school and walked inside the gates, going to my locker. "Lakshita!" I heard someone call. I turned to see Rakhi, my best friend since preschool running up to me. "Hey!" I greeted, hugging her. We pulled away and she took her time to catch her breath. I grabbed the stuff from my locker and turned to look at her to see her glaring at me.

"Rakhi ?" I said biting my lip and she crossed her arms over her chest. "Sorry. Your mom told me you were fast asleep and so I could go on my own. That's why I didn't take you with me for the meet and greet. I'm sorry." I apologised and she sighed. "It's okay. Don't leave me next time." She said and I nodded, smiling. "I promise you'll have some entertainment tonight." I said and she smiled, hugging me. We walked to the art class first and took seats at the last.

Rakhi adjusted her brown framed glasses and started doodling, when my phone buzzed. I unlocked it to see a message from 'Stranger'. I smiled and opened.

Hey, doll. Are you free for the day ?

Hey, Josh. I'm at school. I'm free after 4 though.

Oh. So you're in high school. Should've guessed that..

Yep! I'm 17. What about you ?

I'm 21. The boys and I have a day off. We've planned on having dinner with certain girls. Would you like to come ?

Wish I could 😔 But I promised my best friend that I would entertain her tonight..

She could tag along

"Lakshita Shankar! Show me your work!" Mr. Peter called. I looked up to see him standing next to me. "Sorry sir, I'll start now." I replied placing my phone aside. Once he walks away, I pick it up to see..

I lock my phone and go on with the classes. Soon we get our lunch break and I walk to cafeteria with Rakhi by my side. "Hey, are you up for some dinner tonight with my friend and his friends ?" I ask and she raises an eyebrow. "They are nice guys." I say and she giggles. "Sure. Would love to meet em." She replies and I smile. "His name is Josh. He'll pick us up at 7 from Starbucks after our shift." I say and she nods. We sit down and have some sandwiches with soup.

We clear our plates and start walking towards the exit when Ashton runs up to us. "Hey, Rakhi. Wanna come with me on a date tonight ?" He asks and I roll my eyes. "Ash! I've told you I'm not interested in you. Stop this. You don't love me." She says. "No! I love you! You look so pretty!" He says and I giggle silently. Rakhi rolls her eyes and walks past him, dragging me with her. She looks at me and I laugh imitating him "No! I love you! You look so pretty!" And she giggles asking me to shut up.

We head straight to Starbucks and Rakhi goes behind the counter to start taking orders. I wear my apron and start making whatever the customers ask for. "Hello, sir. What would you like to have ?" She asks and I hear a familiar accent say "A Carmel latte and corn sandwich." "Sure, wait a minute." Rakhi says and turns to me handing the bill. "I want some extra sweetness in the latte." He says and Rakhi turns to me. "Heard it!" I respond and she smiles. "Looks like you're my best friend's twin." I hear Rakhi say. "Why do you say that ? Does she look like me ?" He asks a little nervous. "Nah, she always orders the same ones you do." She says and I can feel that guy smile.

Rakhi starts tending to another customer. I make the latte and sandwich, wrapping it in carefully. I turn around and hand the food when the guy looks at me. He takes the food from my hands when our hands brush against each other's. He quickly pulls his hand off, like he just got short-circuited. I stare, recognising the familiar face. "Zayn.." I whisper and he lets out a sigh. He pays for the food and walks away after giving me one last glance.

After our shift, I go inside the changing room and slip a pair of dark blue jeans. I wear a white sleeveless t-shirt. I tie my hair up into a ponytail. I redress my morning make up and am happy with the looks. I walk out to see Rakhi dressed in black jeans with purple t-shirt with her hair let down. "Let's go ?" I ask and she nods. We walk out of the shop and stand outside when a white car pulls up in front of us.

Josh gets out of the car and walks up to me, giving me a smile. "Hey, doll." He says pulling me into a hug. "Hey, stranger." I reply, hugging back making him chuckle. I look at Rakhi and her face reads 'surprised'. "Josh Devine is your friend ?" She asks excitedly.
