The journey up the mountains was surprisingly easy as I spoke with Fili. I had caught him up on most of what I knew of JRR Tolkien’s books and the Lord of the Rings movies, with the exception of mentioning Gollum and the true power of the ring of Mordor and while he still found it hard to believe, he didn't look at me with accusing eyes or question my motives anymore.
Keeping a safe enough distance between us and the other dwarves, our conversation soon switched topics with me asking about his life in the Blue Mountains and him asking about my life back in my world.
"In your world, do you build these...cameras?"
I shook my head and chuckled. "No."
Fili raised an brow. "Then how do you know so much about them?"
"I'm a media major...uh...I'm a student and I learn about the history of movies and how to make movies. But I don't learn how to make the equipment I use."
"I see."
I smiled as I looked ahead. Dark clouds began to float over us. In the distance a gray sheet of rain covered the black mountains and soon we too would be engulfed by the sheet. Shaking off the nerves, I turned back to Fili who appeared to be lost in his thoughts. Readjusting my pack, I caught the tip of a green cloak. My smile faded as I tried to ignore the knot that began to form in my stomach.
"How do you intend to save him?"
I blinked looking up at Fili then back at Kili. "I don't know."
Catching Fili nod from the corner of my eye, he said no more. It wasn’t a complete lie, but it wasn’t exactly the truth either. It would just have to remain one of the things I had to deal with on my own. The thought wasn’t comforting to say the least.

The storm was like one I had never experience. Water cascaded down the side of the mountain and off the path. The howling of the wind and crack of the thunder made it almost impossible to hear Fili and the others as we all hiked higher up. Lighting strikes became more frequent and I couldn’t help but push myself closer against the wall of the cliff. Heights were never my thing and as I watched the others lean over the edge, it took every ounce of will power not to pull them back or cry out.
"Come on lass." Bomber shouted over the rain, as he gently pulled me away from the wall as he and Fili helped maneuver me towards the middle of the line.
I don't honestly know how it was done, I had my eyes closed the entire time as I silently prayed that I didn't fall. Blindly, I attempted to take a step forward only to collide with one of the dwarves. Immediately I look up to apologize only to come face to face with Kili. In that moment, I would have gladly plunged to my death than to keep seeing the glare the young Prince was giving me for the rest of the journey. I winced as he opened his mouth to say something, but with the sudden commotion from the dwarves, we both looked ahead to find Bilbo being helped up by Dwalin and Bofur after loosing his footing. Bilbo was pale with fear as he pressed his back against the wall.
My concern over the hobbit lasted only mere seconds before Dwalin’s voice carried over the pouring rain and wind. "Look out!"
All eyes turned to the sky. Flying towards us in the night sky was a large boulder. I pressed my back further against the wall of the mountain. Turning my head, I watched as the others quickly retreated to the mountain wall. Bofur and Ori stood where they were, frozen by fear. As the boulder got closer, my heart stopped and for a moment I feared the worst, when the others pulled the two dwarfs back just as the boulder collided with the side of the mountain. We all flinched as the broken pieces of the boulder came cascading down before us. My heart stopped when a particularly large piece smashed into the edge of the path before me causing me to cry out.
