Chapter 9:

Maddie's POV:

Where is Renee? Her patrol is over by now! She should be here...

"Maddie." Tia ran up to me. "We've lost them."

I made a mistake in letting them go... This was horrible! Now we're even further from them!

"Rayanne's out trying to track them." She offered. "Jill and Zach are with her and Gabby's on the computer, security cameras running."

"Good." I stated flatly. Truth was, I didn't believe that would be enough. How could I get them in my grasp again? It was nearly impossible!

Renee's POV:

I got home around dawn. I trudged into the house groggily. I had a lot of work to do on Liam's leg. Still more to do tonight. I sighed and laid down for a half hour or so when Maddie entered.

"Oh, you're here!" She smiled.

I felt my heart sink, I hated keeping things from her. "Yea, I stayed out a bit longer on patrol."

Maddie nodded. "Get some sleep."

She left, shutting the door gently and I fell into a restless slumber.

Maddie's POV:

She must have been out all night looking for those boys! I knew she was trustworthy. I'd let her have the week off. Poor thing hasn't gotten much sleep lately... Maybe no more night patrols. I appreciate her staying out, but she needed sleep.

"No sign!" Rayanne called after me. I turned to face her.

"As I feared." I sighed slightly. "They've gotten away."

"Not for long." Rayanne growled determinedly.

"As you say." I nodded and walked off. Frustration was growing within me. I just had to find them!

"Hi Maddie!" Gabby skipped by, light on her feet.

I nodded to her and jogged to Tia's room. The "war" office. As she called it.

I rapped on the door. "You there?"

"Yea, come in." I heard Tia's voice.

I entered to a room with guns mounted on walls, an old cannon sitting in the corner.

"What can I do you for?" She asked.

"Send out everyone to find them." I growled. "Give them to me alive."
