Chapter 16: School Bash Time

Tanner:

My eyes never left Paisley's as he had her close to him. I knew I had a bad feeling about him. I looked over at Paisley's friends, do they know? I skimmed through their faces and I could tell they knew because they are usually smiling but now it's all quiet and boring.

"Hey", Josh said out of nowhere. I jumped and turned to him. "She's moved on man", he tells me as he places his hand on my shoulder.

"Not for long", I muttered softly. He eyed me carefully before shrugging.

"So, are you taking anyone to the bash or are you going solo?" He questioned me.

"Solo so I can keep an eye on my girl", I confessed and he shakes his head at me. "Trust me", I tell him. "What they have is going to end real quick". I eyed her to find her smiling at something he said, but I know it is just a ruse.

Once lunch was over and class after class passed, I couldn't help but wait to see her during gym class. For some odd reason, I find Paisley more interesting when she's frightened. The football team jogged into the gym to find the girls stretching. Some of the boys begin to whistle and the others laugh. Josh pats my back making me look at him and he nods his head toward Paisley and Amy.

"Come on", I answered him. We started making our way towards them, but I felt my arm get tugged on and I turned back to find Ricky.

"Stay away from my girlfriend", Ricky warned me. I begin to laugh and rolled my eyes at him before tugging my arm away from him. Josh and I kept walking towards Paisley and once we were face to face with them I couldn't help but smile over at Ricky. I could tell he was infuriated with me, but it's not like I care.

"Ladies", Josh says sitting down on the bleachers next to Amy. Amy's eyes light up and she smiled wide at him. This girl has it hard. I look away to find Paisley shaking her head at me.

"What?" I question her as I take a seat next to her.

"You know what", she states out softly. I turned over to find Ricky eyeing us. I smiled and turned my direction towards my girl again. I placed my hand on her cheek and she froze.

"Tanner", Amy says scared.

"Don't worry Amy, I know", I assured as I looked up at her. Her frightened eyes looked back at Josh who was giving her a questioning look.

"Um, come on Josh", Amy mumbled as she pulled his arm away from us. Now it was just Paisley and me.

"What are you doing?" She asks me softly. "You're going to get yourself in trouble", she continued.

"Don't worry about me, I actually want to", I blurred out. Her mouth dropped and I laughed.

"What's going on here?'' Ricky bellowed as he rushed towards us. No one answered. "Paisley!" He yelled.

"Hey!" I say getting up and in his face. "Don't talk to her like that! Why does she have to explain what's going on? What is she your property?" I proclaimed.

"You might not know this Tanner, but she is my property if she's my girlfriend", he explained and I laughed. Is he being serious right now?

"Woah", Paisley interjected standing up. "No I'm not", she replied.

The coaches whistled us over and the three of us head to the front of the gym. Paisley soon left us and hurried next to Amy; meanwhile, Josh made his way toward me and got in between Ricky and me since the irritation of the both of us being near one another was noticeable. When we were told what to do and how the play will be for this round, we headed out to the field and practiced. We chose our players. I was one of the team captains while Ricky was the other. I obviously chose Josh and Sam for starters. Once we were evened out, the game began.
