NOTE FROM THE FUTURE: THE FIRST 16 CHAPTERS OF THIS STORY WON'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO YOUNG FOR THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED AND IT MAKES THE PLOT LOOK IDIOTIC. BUT I CAN PROMISE YOU THIS; IT GETS A WHOLE LOT BETTER WHEN YOU REACH CHAPTER 17 BECAUSE REASONS XD
【Jeff's POV】
We walked for a while until we reached the deserted park. Not a single person can be found around here which is fine, I'm not very fond of socializing.
"What first?" Marika asked excitedly.
"Aren't we a little old for this?" I groaned.
"Oh shut up, you're never too old for fun." She rolled her eyes at me. "Aren't you the same person that gave me a tour guide in a park before?" She smirked.
"That was different, we were kids." I replied.
"We're STILL kids." She defended.
"But-Ah! Nevermind!" I facepalmed, I can never win any arguments with this girl. "What do you wanna do first?" I asked with a bored look.
"Slides!" She grinned and ran over to the slides.
After getting closed to it, she just stood there staring at it.
"What? Aren't you gonna do anything?" I asked.
"It's too small . . ." She pouted. "I guess you're right, we're too big for this stuff." She frowned. Aww, now she's in a bad mood.
"Hey, we can always try the swings." I smiled to cheer her up, I hate seeing her sad.
A smile crawled it's way back to her face as she walked over to the swing set while I followed after her.
She gladly sat down and stared at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Aren't you gonna sit down?" She smiled as she glanced at the swing next to her.
I sat down with a sigh, she started swinging so did I. After a while, she started swinging really high and fast as she giggled.
"I bet you can't do this." She laughed.
"Sure I can!" I yelled as I swing as high and fast as her.
After a fit of laughter, we both came to halt as the sun began to set. We stared at it as the sky turned orange.
"Hey, Jeff." She said seriously. "Do you want to know who the person I like is?" She blushed.
Honestly, I don't, because my mood will just get ruined but whatever. "Sure, who?" I pretended to be interested. She paused for a long time before answering,
". . . Y-You." She blushed.
What? Wait, wait, wait, did I just hear that correctly?
"What?" I asked, wide-eyed.
"Don't make me say it again!" She blushed harder.
Marika . . . likes me? I mean, seriously? I ran out of words to say and my brain immediately shut down. I'm trying to process things here.
【Marika's POV】
Maybe I shouldn't have said that . . . Jeff looked totally blank as he stared at me.
"W-What?" I said to bring some sense back to him.
"Uhh . . . I, I-" He stuttered.
"Nevermind, pretend I didn't say that." I gave him a smile, but I'm actually feeling stupid and regretful right now. I knew it wasn't a good idea to say it. I'm his sister for goodness' sake. Now it's all awkward silence.
I looked at the ground in shame and messed with the dirt under my shoe, Jeff averted his gaze to the sky as he sighed.
"Hey . . ." He mumbled.
"Hm?" I said, not looking at him.
"R-Remember last night when I told you that I think I like somebody?" He said as he turned his head the other way.
"Yeah . . ." I pouted.
"I-I was talking about y-you." He stuttered.
Yeah . . . He was talking about--WHAT!?
I snapped my head towards him and saw him as red as a tomato, did he just-
"What did you say?" I gaped at him.
"You know what I said!" He tried to hide his embarrassment by glaring but his blushing face gave it away.
We both averted our gaze to the ground as a few minutes passed by . . . This is awkward.
"So . . ." I started. "We have mutual feelings for each other?" I blushed.
He also blushed as he nodded. I smiled at him and held my hand out. He grinned and took my hand.
There's that tingly feeling again and the butterflies in my tummy . . .
"Do you feel it?" I asked. "The butterflies and shock?" I added.
"Absolutely." He laughed, "I guess Liu actually knows a few things."
There was a long silence as we watched the sun set, but it was a comfortable kind of silence. It felt wonderful, were just sitting on the swing as we held each other's hand.
". . . Hey, you do know this is wrong, right?" I asked, we're siblings after all.
"I don't care . . ." He simply replied with a smile.
I giggled at him as the sky grew darker.
"You know . . . I've always felt a spark when I first touched your hand when we were younger." He whispered.
"Me too, but I didn't know what it was at first." I replied with a grin.
"Me neither," He glanced at me. "We should head back now, it's getting late."
I nodded and stood up, we both put our bags on and walked over the bus stop as we held each other's hand.
I'm glad a bus picked us up, no longer than a few minutes. I sat beside Jeff as I stare out the window.
"Hey, one more thing." Jeff looked at me. "Don't sit beside anyone else but me." He added with a blush.
"Okay, okay." I replied with a laugh.
We sat in silence as we reach home. We walked inside and saw Mom, Dad and Liu, sitting on the couch.
"Thank God!" Mom suddenly yelled.
"Where have you two been!?" Dad shouted too.
"We were worried sick!" Liu also shouted
"At the park . . ?" I answered.
"Next time you're going to stay out late, atleast give us a call." Dad said sternly which is a bit scary.
Jeff and I nodded as we hurriedly went upstairs to change. I change clothes in the bathroom while Jeff is in our room.
As I finished, I yelled downstairs."Moooom! I'm not hungry so I'll sleep!" I walked back inside the room and saw Jeff laying on his bed, listening to music.
I walked over to him and laid on his bed without saying a thing. I got under the covers and closed my eyes. I'm so tired.
"This isn't your bed, you know . . ." He muttered.
"Shut up, I'll end up sleeping here anyway. G'night." I replied as I try to fall asleep.
"Goodnight." I heard him chuckle as he hug me.
"Go eat some dinner, moron." I yawned.
"Nah . . ."
That was the last thing I heard as I slipped away in the land of dreams. What a day.
