Marika's POV

Silence surrounded us as I gently reached a hand out to Jeff's bleeding arm. As I thought, the blade really did pierce straight through his arm, I have to do something about it. I can see Jeff getting drowsy as the blood keeps pouring out.

He didn't speak, neither did I.

We both have a lot of questions running in our heads, but we couldn't find the right words to say it. I'm really just glad that things are over . . . I hope.

Eyeing the medicinal items I brought along in the living room where we sat, I carefully held his arm and tied a cloth just below the wound to ease the bleeding for even a little bit. I began disinfecting the needle and thread which I'll be using before wiping the blood on his arm. This is the first time I'm doing this, it's not like we have a choice. We both need to do something or he'll bleed to death.

After disinfecting Jeff's wound, I grabbed the needle and stared hard at his arm, beginning to have second thoughts. "This will hurt . . ." My voice came out as a whisper, the message was almost meant for me rather than Jeff.

I gripped his arm and cautiously began sewing his open wound. Jeff hissed at the sudden prickling pain but he tried his best to ignore it. I grit my teeth and kept on stitching his wound, I could almost feel how the needle pierce his skin, and to think, I have to do this to the other side of his wounded arm.

"Sorry, bear with it. I don't want you to bleed out." I mumbled, giving him a glance.

"Why did he let me live?"

My eyes darted away from the wound and onto Jeff as he threw me a sudden question. I found myself unable to speak, I really don't know what was running in Liu's mind. I don't even know what I'm supposed to feel.

Right after the moment Liu stabbed Jane, I could see it in his eyes. The pain. It's as if he could feel the pain he inflicted on Jane, I knew right then, he cared for her . . . so much. And he had to hurt her for our sake, it almost seems unbelievable.

Honestly, I didn't think of those at all, I didn't think about anything like it. Liu's feelings for Jane . . . I don't know what it is, but after I thought about it, it looked like a precious thing for Liu, maybe even for Jane. I noticed it, when I came home from the warehouse after escaping Liu and Jane had no idea where he was . . . as much as Jane hid it, there was worry in her voice.

"He . . . forgives you now." I mumbled unsurely and went back on stitching his wound, "Why else would he save us from her?"

"What could've . . . changed his mind." He mumbled, I noticed how he was starting to drift off to sleep.

"Hey," I called to wake him up, "Don't sleep, especially when you're losing this much blood, it's kind of dangerous."

"My arm is starting to numb." He sighed, "I'm worried . . ." He added.

"Worried?" I asked, focusing on what I'm doing.

"About Liu, and Jane." He muttered.

I perked up, "What about Jane?"

"She might still be alive." Jeff said in a daze, "It'll take a miracle, but it's still a possibility."

"She couldn't be . . . After all that, I doubt it." I reassured him.
