【Thanks for following me, guys. You are GREATLY appreciated :D 】

Marika's POV

"Well, this is a difficult situation . . ." The woman in her late thirties muttered as she stared at the computer monitor.

We're still at the police station, they'll be deciding where I'll live but they seem to be having trouble. The Johnsons are in the room, accompanying me. I feel really grateful for that, I needed comfort and it's a good thing that I managed to stop crying too.

"Your grandparents from your mother's side are deceased while your biological grandparents aren't in the country and we can't send you to your uncle because he's had a lot of bad records like drug dealing." She scrolled through the screen, "Don't you have anyone in your family that could take you in?" She turned to me.

"N-No . . . We cut off all ties with our relatives, at least that's what my parents said." I said weakly, she sighed and took her glasses off, she stared at the table in deep thought. After a while she spoke up,

"We don't have a choice then, you'll have to stay in foster care . . ." She announced. Somehow, I knew this was coming, my mom is an only child while my dad only has one delinquent brother. Mom's parents died when she was young and dad's parents are in another country though I don't know where, they don't seem to like talking about their relatives much . . . I just want my family back . . .

I sighed, thinking about them will only make me cry again . . .

"I'll see where you'll be staying. Please, wait here." The lady said as she stood up, she was about to leave the room.

"We'll take her in." Robert suddenly said which made all of us stop and gawk at him. What the . . ?

"Robert, what are you-" Mrs. Johnson didn't get to finish her words when Robert spoke out,

"My wife and I-" He looked at a baffled Mrs. Johnson and placed an arm around her shoulders, "-Would like to take her in." He continued in a stern voice with a smile. Mrs. Johnson, Billy and I were all having a hard time processing what he just said. Take me in? Is he serious?

"Are you certain?" The lady unsurely asked the couple, Robert gave her a nod. "Well, in that case, let me check your records . . . I'll be needing IDs" She sat back down and typed on the keyboard. Robert wasted no time and snatched Mrs. Johnson's bag away from her confused self and rummage through her items, he took their IDs and handed them to the lady.

"Wait . . . umm . . ." Mrs. Johnson rubbed her temples in confusion. "Let me talk to my husband outside." She gave an exasperated and annoyed sigh before leaving the room. Robert shrugged and followed her out, Billy and I listened to their conversation while the lady was completely focused on the computer.

"What just happened?" Mrs. Johnson said irritably.

"C'mon, she doesn't have anywhere else to go . . ." Robert urged.

"That doesn't mean she can live with us." Mrs. Johnson replied, I can tell she's trying to stop herself from yelling.

"Well, don't you want to?" Robert sighed.

"No, I don't. We already have a kid!" Mrs. Johnson snapped back, Billy and I glanced at each other as we listened.

"The more the merrier." Robert retorted, "Why are you so against it anyway?" He mumbled.

"I'm- I . . . Urgh!" Mrs. Johnson replied in utter frustration. Well, I know when I'm not wanted or needed, maybe I should just let the lady handle this matter instead of staying with them, the last thing I want to be is a burden.
