"Don't, Jeff!" I shouted as I kept on tugging myself away from the binds of the ropes although it was a useless thing to do since I was strapped real tight.

Jeff didn't stop, his gaze from mine didn't break as he made his way towards me. I heard Jane giggle from behind the chair I was on, she leaned down and giggled, "You're done for." She whispered beside my ear.

I grit my teeth and found myself at loss for words. I didn't know what to say to Jeff, I was hopeless. Seeing Jeff like this in front of me . . . I feel like shit for letting it happen. If I had come earlier, would things be any different from now? Would I be in time to stop Jane? Could I even do it?

Those were the things that were running on my mind as I slowly met my end. If my death was inevitable, then I never should have escaped from Liu in the first place. I never expected to return and find out that Jeff already lost it. I was too naïve, thinking that I could stop his insanity from coming back, how stupid.

But, thinking about it now, regretting coming here . . . it's pointless now. Staring back at Jeff who looked like he doesn't know me at all, like I was just one of his victims . . . I'm pathetic.

Jeff gave a low laugh as he stopped in front of me. As he raised his knife, I shut my eyes and turned my head away from him, just waiting for the pain the knife would bring with Jane's quiet laughter resonating behind me.

The sound of a blade piercing flesh was heard.

Yet, I didn't feel a thing.

I tensed up when I heard a gasp. Uneasy, I opened my eyes and saw Jeff closely standing beside me. He was breathing heavily and glaring hard at which I'm guessing is Jane, I couldn't explain what he seems to be feeling, his face was contorted into a look of confusion and anger like a person who just woke up from a daze. My gaze followed his outstretched arm and was shocked at the scene, half-believing that it was really happening.

The knife was sticking out of Jane's right shoulder as Jeff stared at her in a panic. Confusion struck me when Jeff gripped his head and pulled on his hair, it was like he was having a mental battle with himself. Jane was a different story, she stood frozen on the spot, her hand shaking as it lifts itself up to the bloody weapon, yet she was looking back at Jeff, speechless.

"Jeff!" I called out, hoping that he's the person I knew.

As I spoke, Jeff snapped his head to my direction, "M-Marika?" He let out a breath of relief.

Jeff shook his head and proceeded on grabbing the ropes behind me and untying my hands, "Everything's gonna be okay," Jeff said, his voice sounding tired and weary but still, it was dignified and it reassured me, "I promise." He added.

"This . . ." Jane muttered, dumbfounded. "H-How can you still be . . ?" She trailed off, her hands hang on her sides, too stunned to move.

"Enough, Jane." Jeff flatly said as he struggled to untie the binds, "I said I'm done and I meant it." He paused, "Sorry won't bring you back the life you deserved, but neither does making me a murderer."

I kept my mouth shut, both afraid and relieved. Though Jeff was having a hard time freeing me, and he can't exactly pull the knife out of Jane at the moment.

"No . . ." Jane's voice became low, "This isn't over, it will never be over." She growled. I tilted my head and glanced at Jane once again, her fists were shaking in anger.
