Mrs. Bee sat next to Katie's bed and watched her silently. She waited and waited for Katie to realize she was there. No response. She gently put her hand over Katie's shoulder and waited. Katie groaned, as if she were trying to say something.
"Dr., it's getting worse," said Mrs. Bee. Dr. Schmitt walked over to Katie's bed. "Katie, can you try and speak up please?" He asked. Again she groaned as if she were about to speak. Dr. Schmitt called the main office. " I need Dr. Arthur, the stroke specialist. Please hurry," He announced.
"Is this Room 152?" Asked Dr. Arthur as he walked in to see Katie, Mrs. Bridges, Mrs. Bee, and Dr. Schmitt. "Yes, Arthur," Replied Dr. Schmitt. "So who's our special patient here?!" Dr. Arthur asked. Katie attempted to raise her hand the best she could, trembling.
"That's bad," Thought Dr. Arthur. He walked up to Katie and held her hand. "I'm Dr. Arthur. I'm here to help you, just like all of us," He said calmly. Katie gazed into his eyes, feeling hope and warmth. She slightly nodded her head, and squeezed his hand just a little bit tighter.
