Katie was stuck being able to only move her eyeballs. She was in a new room, it had big machines and strange lights that hurt her eyes.
She could hear yelling in the hallways. Katie knew she was alone. She closed her eyes and heard yelling outside her room.
Katie listened. She could hear a man's voice. Then memories came flooding back to her. It was Mr. Riverside. The man with golden hair and brown eyes. Her swim coach. Katie remembered the soft sound of his voice and him yelling directions to the team. She remembered him telling her she was the best swimmer on the team.
Katie could hear another voice. A girl's voice. She could tell it was Amber! The girl with white hair and blue eyes. Katie could identify the sweet soothing sound of her voice. She remembered going to parties with this girl, telling people they didn't deserve to live with this girl, acting superior to everyone with this girl. Have I really been that person? Katie asked herself. Have I really been so mean?
