Katie opened her eyes feeling much looser than normal. She could move her head without any pain at all, although it was still numb. Katie smiled in relief that she could easily move her toes, fingers and slightly move her hand.
I'm getting better! She thought. Katie thought of all the people she'd been mean too. Once she could walk, she would apologize to them. I just hope they give me another chance. Katie thought.A couple hours later Amber marched in crying. "Katie," She began, Katie pretended to be asleep. "I've let myself become a horrible person, just to be you're friend. I've let myself be mean to others. I never really wanted to be your friend, at the beginning that is. I am a mean person. The only reason I was ever your friend...was because I thought it'd make me the best. I thought it'd make me pretty and popular and the best swimmer. But I was wrong."
"I'm going to change, Katie. I'm going to become a better person," Amber said. Katie knew that if Amber could change, she could too. Amber was crying even harder now.
"I've been unfair. I've wanted to be a winner, but I haven't acted like one," Amber said in between sobs. Then Katie opened her eyes and smiled. "We're both going to change," Katie rasped, as a tear rolled down her cheek. Amber reached down and hugged and Katie and Katie tried her best to hug her back.Written by TheFlameFangirl
