2 months later

Ellie POV

"Ra-"

"Not now, Ellie," he closed the door as I just stared at it.

Wow...

It's been almost 2 months since I've given birth to our babies. Ramond has been extremely busy and barely has time with me anymore, like he'll just go to bed and fall asleep once he finishes his alpha duties.

"Luna?" I turned around seeing Tess. I smiled lightly. Tess has now settled down into the pack, and so has her son Alex.

"You got a minute?"

"I have all the time I need since my mate doesn't want to see me." I sarcastically shot out.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Luna."

"It's normal for an Alpha," I sighed.

"Well, how about we look after our kids together? Get some mother to mother bonding."

I smiled at that idea. "Sure," I smiled.

As the night fell, it was dinner time.

Everyone was gathered up on the table, but what a surprise Ramond wasn't here.

I kept to myself eating slowly. I felt a hand go on my knee slowly, looking up to see it was my brother. He gave me a reassuring look.

The door opened, and that's when Ramond walked in. Oh my god! He's here! Shocker... he took a seat opposite to me, not even saying 'Hi' or 'How's my kids?'

I rolled my eyes, and my Dad noticed something was up.

"So Ramond?" My Dad started a conversation up, making him look at him. "What's the next step you have for this pack?"

Ramon just shrugged, making me scoff. That brought all eyes to me.

Clint gave me a warning look. "What?" Ramond said as he narrowed his eyes. I glared at him.

"Oh, nothing."

"No, what?" He asked.

"You would know if you were around more." I snapped.

He stared at me, frowning. All this anger I had built up made my heart go numb.

I think Ramond felt it through the bond.

"El-"

I got up, storming out away from everyone.

I was suddenly turned around by Ramond.

"GET! OFF ME!" I ripped my hand from his grip.

"Ellie -" he tried grabbing my arm, and when he successfully did it, he turned me around, smashing his lips on to mine.

I immediately melted into it, relaxing. It was so soft and passionate that he cupped my cheeks, brushing away the tear with his thumb. He pulled away as we both opened our eyes.

"I love you," he mumbled.

"Then stop ignoring me... even a kiss and I love you before you go to sleep will still mean something to me, Ramond."

"I'm trying so hard to balance the pack and my family life."

"That's why you have me, but you won't let me help out." I tried walking away.

"Ellie, stop!"

"You do it to me! So let me do it to you."

He stared at me with a look of guilt.

"I was trying to find something as well..."

"And what would that be?!" I scoffed, crossing my arms.

"The perfect ring for you..."

I frowned at that. "What are you talking about?!"

He got down on one knee.

My eyes then widened.

"Ramond..."

"This is why," he said as he gently pulled out a blue velvet box. Opening it, he revealed the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.

"I don't know how long we got until our next war, so I'm doing this now. I will do what it takes to protect you and my kids, Ellie, and to make this right. I love you, I will be your safe place because as long as I'm alive. I will do whatever it takes to have safety over our home, our family." My hands flew over my mouth. "Ellie Black Thorne, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?"

I nodded, gently removing my hands from my mouth.

With a tender gesture, he took my left hand and gracefully slid the ring onto my finger.

I wrapped my arms around him as he stood up, wrapping his arms around me tighter.

"I love you, Ellie, even if it doesn't look like it," he whispered.

I just squeezed my eyes shut.

He's right.

There's so little time before the next war happens.
