Ellie POV
I was startled by a sudden noise and opened my eyes to find that it was just Elliot.
"Sorry," he whispered.
I turned my attention to the right and observed Ramond lying there, his gaze fixed upon me with a faint smile.
"What?" I giggled.
"Nothing, just glad you're not mad at me,"
"Who said I forgave you?"
"I'm still here, and you haven't kicked me out yet,"
I playfully rolled my eyes to that.
"Elliot is Dad back?"
"Not yet,"
"Oh..."
"He should be back soon, though," Elliot reassured.
"Wanna do something today?" Ramond asked, which made me frown.
"Don't you have your Alpha stuff to do? and the Lorezo situation which you won't let me get involved in."
"I can make Clint be in charge for a few hours and your brother and father handling it as well as me sometimes."
I just sighed. "Why can't I help?"
"Because I don't want you stressing about it, baby. I have it all under control. The packs that are helping us. We're meeting up with them in a few months' time, so hush."
I stuck my tongue out, and then a mischievous thought occurred to me.
"Can we go hiking in the woods? Just a little walk."
"Sure," he shrugged.
I bit my bottom lip, suppressing my giggle.
Woods
"So what made you think of this?" Ramond asked.
I was holding his hand as he followed me.
"Nice fresh air. Little healthy walking..." he narrowed his eyes but shook it off.
I started giggling seeing it. "What's up with the evil laugh?"
I attempted to push him. He noticed my action as his eyes widened in surprise.
"No!" As he lost his balance and fell backwards, he caught hold of my wrist, causing me to let out a startled cry as we both landed in the muddy lake.
"RAMOND!" I screamed.
He erupted into laughter. I folded my arms, pouting as he approached, chuckling.
"Come here."
"No..." I complained as he encircled me with his arms, giving me a gentle squeeze.
Later on
"C'mon!" I groaned, trying to climb up the tree. Ramond pushed me up by my butt as I jumped up on the branch.
He joined me by placing his legs over his lap while I had my arm around him. He rested his head against the tree as I surveyed the surroundings.
"It's so beautiful and peaceful out here," I mumbled, looking to Ramond.
"It's relaxing, no stress, not a care in the world."
The mud was becoming firm as it dried. The sun was setting as the moon rose, which brought a smile to my face.
"My mother used to take me to the forest at night, to the cliff. We would sit there and have conversations. I always made her laugh by asking her to howl at the moon. I would try to howl too, which amused her. Occasionally, my father and Elliot would join us. I noticed the way my father gazed at my mother when she was looking up at the moon. It's similar to the way you are looking at me right now." I averted my gaze from the moon and looked at him.
He gave a slight smile in response, then leaned in and kissed me. I immediately reciprocated the kiss.
As I opened my eyes, we both drew back. Finally, learning about Ramond James and his background has given me a fresh perspective on him.
"Ramond..." I frowned.
He frowned, too. "What's wrong, Ellie?"
"I love you too," I smiled.
His eyes widened as a broad smile spread across his face. He reached out to grab me but lost his balance and fell from the tree. I gasped and looked down, seeing him lying on the ground.
"I'm ok," he groaned.
I burst out laughing, leaning back when I lost my balance screaming.
I fell on top of Ramond, making an omph sound as he groaned in pain again. I couldn't help but continue my laughter as he chuckled softly. "It seems that an angel has fallen from the sky," he remarked playfully. I responded with a playful eye roll and a gentle kiss on his lips.
