"So, you're telling me," Jimin began, stopping to take a generous sip of his coffee before continuing, "I got so drunk you had to heave me home?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying." Yoongi chuckled.
The two sat in a secluded corner of what had to have been one of Busan's quietest coffee shops. With only a few others dotted around the room and a noticeable number of empty tables, it almost felt entirely bare. However, this was surprisingly working to Jimin's advantage. The fact that nothing else could be heard apart from the hushed music and the occasional whistle of a coffee machine meant that him and Yoongi could properly engage in conversation, and so far, it was going well. They had already managed to maintain their steady chatter throughout lunch, and it was really beginning to seem to Jimin that him and Yoongi were getting closer. Especially as Yoongi insisted that he'd eat something to cure his hangover, (despite Jimin saying that he wasn't hungry), and encouraged him to share a sandwich with him. This in itself was enough of an icebreaker for the pair, and Jimin really began to feel as though he was being protected by him somehow. Even if it had only been for an hour or so, he was glad that he turned up today.
"In any case, thank you for that. Who knows what would have happened otherwise." He sighed.
"It's no big deal," Yoongi shrugged, lifting his own cup to his lips, "I was just relieved I managed to get you back in one piece."
Jimin couldn't control the blush that followed, his entire face heating with equal embarrassment and flattery. He was still astounded that Yoongi cared about him at all, let alone enough to make sure he got home safely. He smiled to himself as he pictured Yoongi carefully helping his overly tipsy and idiot-self wobble along the street. Noticing he had slid into a daydream, Jimin quickly shook away his thoughts, and ran a swift hand through his hair before speaking up again.
"So, um, Yoongi-hyung. You've been here for a few weeks now and I still don't know much about you." He instigated curiously.
"I guess you don't, no. Where do you want me to start?" Yoongi questioned.
"Hmm, how about your family? That's always a good place to start." Jimin replied. He rested his head in his palm to signify that he was ready to listen.
"Okay. I'm an only child, but my parents are really cool. My grandparents here are too, and they spoil me a lot so I guess I'm pretty lucky!" He enthused. His face instantly lit up at the mention of his parents, and Jimin giggled - he was so cute.
"Awh, that's nice!" He responded, taking the final bite of what was left of his half of the sandwich.
"Do you have any siblings, Jimin-ah?" Yoongi asked.
"Aish," Jimin began, recalling the mischievous smirk his brother would always bear, "well, I have one little brother, but a lot of his friends are in my classes so I know he thinks I'm the most embarrassing big brother ever have! I don't mind much, he's cute really."
Yoongi's wide grin spread further across his cheeks as he laughed. "Ha, ha. Bless him."
"If you don't mind me asking, what made you want to become a lifeguard?" Jimin enquired suddenly.
He seemed to look deep in thought for a moment before speaking.
"My parents actually made me train here for one summer when I was younger, and I loved it. However, when school and stuff came around, I couldn't come back because I was so busy with other stuff."
Jimin's eyes widened. He should have guessed that Yoongi had worked here before - not only was he incredibly quick to grasp everything, but he also had somewhat of a familiar face.
"Oh, really? That's interesting - what made you want to come back this summer?" He queried.
"I don't know really," Yoongi began, thoughtfully taking another sip of his drink, "I guess I thought it might look good when I start applying for jobs and all that soon."
"That's fair enough, I've never really thought about that before." Jimin remarked. He honestly never had - seeing as he still had years of school to come.
"How about you? What made you want to teach the kids?" Yoongi asked.
"Oh, I-"
He stopped. If he closed his eyes tightly enough, he could still feel the water rising, and his head hitting the sand as he viciously gasped for breath. For years, he had vowed to himself never to let that happen to anybody else, but there was no way he could have told Yoongi this. The last thing he wanted to do was scare him away with such dark things.
"Right. Um, well... I couldn't swim very well when I was younger, but I always wanted to be able to. I guess you could say I don't want any other kids to feel like they don't have the confidence to swim or surf or whatever else." He replied, choosing his words as cautiously as he could.
"Oh, wow, that's sweet really. I feel bad now for giving such a robotic answer." Yoongi mumbled, scratching his head nervously.
"Don't be silly! You're just practical, is all." Jimin shook his head, smiling as he reassured him.
"I guess," He shrugged, lifting his wrist to examine his watch, "Oh wow, we've been here for an hour and a half! Shall we get going?"
"Ah, sure."
-
"Well, here's my stop." He released a sigh as he gestured toward the small path that led up to his house.
"Oh yeah, don't I remember." Yoongi giggled. He nudged him playfully in the arm and gave him a suggestive look, watching as Jimin's face transformed into a beacon of red.
"Hey! Don't you think I've suffered enough this morning without you teasing me?" He complained, trying his hardest to hide the smile that he was fighting.
"Anyways, this was a nice date-" Yoongi began, quickly cutting his sentence short.
Jimin couldn't cover his expression this time - his mouth instantly dropped.
"Shit! No, I mean," he flapped, clearly not knowing where to place his hands as he began to fluster, "it was nice seeing you and everything..."
"Uhm I gotta go, bye!"

-Ms. Savant, world renowned writerAnyways, hopefully you liked this chapter! I think the ending may be a little rushed since I went a little over my usual length and I wanted to do the scene of them walking but oh well! As with every chapter i'll most likely return and change it all around a bit until i'm happy with it anyways. For now however, it is currently 12:47am here and I should probably be getting myself to sleep. (Especially with school and stuff starting soon UGH rip) Thank you so much for reading, I really hope you liked this one! I hope there are no mistakes or anything.
I attached the iconic bop of the decade which is of course Agust D's title track merely because how could I not when Min Yoongi is such a lyrical genius and I am so, so thankful that he bestowed his thoughtful, insightful, and awe-inspiring mixtape upon my otherwise simple being. Man oh man I love it so much the whole mixtape is just incredible and I appreciate it more than anything I can't even begin. What's your fave track? Feel free to lemme know!
Sorry for rambling oops lmao this always seems to happen
See you next time!
