I should not have gone to the party.

But of course, because I had a gift of getting myself into trouble, I went to the party.

Tyler drove since Josh openly admitted that he was looking to get completely wasted. He had been the one to score the winning goal so he was feeling as if he was on the top of the world.

He wouldn't stop talking about it. In fact, he was talking all about it from the back of the car.

"I can't believe I made that shot!" He screamed as he pounded his fists against the ceiling of Tyler's car.

I rolled my eyes at him. "I know," I sighed. "You told us a million times."

"Yeah dude," Tyler said with a slight smile. "Give it a rest."

"I can't!" Josh exclaimed as he fell back into his seat. His fingers ran through his wild hair. "I'm too pumped! I'm the hero, Tye! I feel like I'm floating! Hell, I'm flying through the sky! I'm flying with the stars! I AM A STAR!"

I turned up the music, hoping that it would drain out Josh's ego. But I could still hear him talking Sky's ear off from the backseat. And she was hanging on to every word he was saying.

I watched them from the rearview mirror. I saw Josh put his arm around Sky and pull her in close to him. I turned down the music a little, eager to hear what he would say to her.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. His chin rested on her forehead. "Am I being too crazy?"

I could see Sky's face, turning a darker shade of red with each minute that went by. But she didn't look scared. She looked happy.

"No," she said as she shook her head. "It's fine. You deserve to be excited."

Josh looked at Sky. His smile had dispersed. Sky stared back at him. Now I could see that she was becoming nervous.

Then Josh leaned in and whispered something in her ear. I watched as her eyes got wide.

She looked up at Josh, who looked down at her. There still was no smile on his face. But he didn't look upset. He looked focused.

"Think they'll be ok with that?" Sky asked.

"Yeah," Josh said with a reassuring nod.

"And you'd be ok with that?" Sky wondered in a small voice.

Josh smiled a little. "Yeah. I suggested it."

And at that moment Sky smiled. At that moment she stopped worrying. She stopped wondering about what the future would hold for her. And she just smiled. And decided to stop asking questions and just go along with it.

I looked over to Tyler. He was smiling. I started to smile. We were all smiling. Something that seemed rare these days. '

The party was held at Jeremy's house, the boy who was in Spanish class and still hit on me everyday. His house was huge, bigger than Tyler's house. And it was packed with a bunch of teenagers. Most of them were outside by the pool. But there were certainly a lot inside as well.

As soon as we had stepped inside the house, Josh grabbed Sky's hand and led her away. Leaving Tyler and I alone.

We decided to just hang inside. I couldn't believe how big Jeremy's house was. I could see myself getting lost in here.
