I spent that week trying to win over the girl in my math class. I continued to make a step closer and closer to making my move.
I tried to push forward, but she pulled back.
She showed signs of liking me, but at other times, she was distant and unfriendly.
"Valentine grams! Get your valentine grams!" one of my classmates announced.
I walked over to him curiously. "How much are they?"
He turned towards me sharply, as if he didn't expect anyone to actually consider buying one.
"Um...um...uhh it's like like about two dollars dollars f-f-for each gr-gram," he stammered.
"I'll get back to you tomorrow," I said with a sly smile.

I was doing something wrong. I was unable to put my finger on it, but it felt like she wasn't meant for me. I wasn't meant for her either.
I didn't know how to explain it, but it didn't feel right. It felt rushed.
It felt like I was force feeding a kid broccoli, when all they wanted was candy.
I decided to give it one more day, in case something drastic could happen and change my mind.
That extra day made all the difference...
••••••••••
To think that one school day could have such a lasting impact.
It was a normal day in science class.
My teacher had given out worksheets, and we were all at work.
I turned around to two of my friends.
I had one of my best girl friends in my science class. We knew each in other in elementary school, but we had recently reconnected.
After not having classes together in second, third, fourth, and seventh, we finally started talking more one-on-one.
I got my first phone in seventh grade, but it wasn't until eighth grade that we really started talking and getting to know each other.
I wanted her friend Dana's number because I was suspicious about my rising feelings, and I thought I might like Dana.
Instead, she gave me hers. I shrugged and accepted two girls' numbers in my phone.
I just didn't realize she had a reason for putting her number in first.
Anyway, the bell was about to ring, so I packed up my stuff.
"See you tomorrow," I told both of them.
"Bye."
They were caught off by the bell going crazy, and everyone started to pile out.
And for some reason, when I was walking out of the door, I turned around and saw her. Maybe it really was just the overhead light, but I believe it was much more than that.
She was beautiful. She was right there.
I shook my head, and walked away, trying to leave behind that thought.
