I grabbed my backpack, the clock reading 7:30 a.m.

It was a beautiful morning, the sky the color of adventure and mystery.

I briskly walked through the tall, wet grass, onto the sidewalk, and straight to my bus stop.

I was greeted by mostly familiar faces and some unfamiliar faces.

The bus final arrived on time at 7:40, it's red and yellow lights glaring at us.

I found a nice seat near the middle by the window.

TSH! The engine hummed, and we were setting off on our way to the infamous and malicious setting one calls school.

The bus made a left turn and stopped at another neighborhood. A neighborhood I knew very well.

I looked down, but my eyes watched the entrance to the bus.

One guy. One girl. One girl. One girl. One girl. One guy....

There she was, her smile lighting up the dimly lit bus.

At least it brightened up my world.

The first day of tenth grade went more or less well. I saw enough friends to make me feel special, but so many that I would feel trapped.

Sometimes, I loved to walk from class to class with a friend.

Other days, I would just take the long way to my class and enjoy my walk in the fresh air.

Seeing her was rarer, but that's would made the little encounters so special.

She was in both of my lunch periods, which I didn't know until she told me. Spending lunch with her surely made every day more interesting.

Unlike ninth grade, I felt I belonged. The classes were manageable, as was my social life.

The best part was it was her who I would see every morning. It was her who I would see leaving the school every afternoon.

This year is going to great.
