June was the month of hope.
Not only because summer was coming, but because I planned to do something about her.
I decided to get help from Lexi, who was a romance geek.
"Not many people understand anymore," I explained. "Do you get what I'm trying to say?"
"Yeah, but you need to move on," she said.
"But I can't, and I don't want to," I answered, my heart heavy.
I'm on my own then.
"Okay, well just make sure you think this through." The bell rung, and Lexi disappeared into the crowd.
So I thought about it. And thought about it.
I was thinking of things I could do for her or give her, like another poem or a gift.
I was having some friends over for a little end-of-the-year party, and that's when I planned to see her.

Just like that, it was the last day of school.
Good riddance. Until next year.
I would miss seeing her every day, and she would be busy this summer.
The last day passed by quickly.
And when that final bell rang, I never felt so alive. All I wanted to was skip merrily to my bus like a little schoolboy, but I still had an ounce of dignity.
The last bus ride of the year was depressing. Everybody was on their phones instead of talking to people.
And Dana was soaking up all the time I had with her.
SCREECH! It was her stop.
"Goodbye, see you Saturday," she said with a quick smile.
She and Dana walked off the bus so fast I never got a chance to say goodbye...
