By March, I knew I liked her again. It was the familiar feeling of being drawn to someone and not wanting to leave, like a fly mesmerized by light.
Music was shaping everyone.
I loved listening to music, but a lot of my friends were always talking about making music and listening to music.
But they were obsessed with it.
Eric finally got his highly anticipated drum set so he could play with is neighbor who already had one.
And it seemed like playing an instrument gave you a ton of popularity points.
I just felt left out... I was never good at playing instruments. I also never really wanted to play.
I just loved to listen.
That's when she fell in love. Not with me, but with music.
She loved her new guitar. She would bring it to school. She would bring it to other people's houses. Even on the bus.
I even lost my ticket to sit next to her because her best friend was already there-the guitar.
But she was so good at it!
Her fingers strummed the strings gracefully, and she always looked dedicated when she played.
And her voice paired with the guitar was magical.
At first, I thought I was hearing a professional practice their guitar. Instead, it was an angel.

One day on the bus I did something so odd even I couldn't comprehend it.
"I love guys with guitars," she said.
Without any hesitation, I blurted out something so ridiculous I almost bit my tongue.
"I play the guitar!"
All they could do was laugh...

Music was my escape, too. I loved the actual sound the most, but beats and words also mattered.
Music was there for me when I was down. On days when I was down, my earbuds went up. Then my spirits went up, too.
Music was there for me when I wanted to live in an emotion, and to feel the moment.
Music was there to pick me up.
I owed it to all the songs out there.
But I never picked up an instrument.
And I never appreciated music as much as I should have...
