It was early afternoon in the late season of spring in Japan. It was decently warm outside with a cool breeze. You were settled in your kitchen preparing drinks and food for your guests. You could see them through your large kitchen window just above the back of your sink. You had originally only planned for one guest until you were given the news that he was a part of the "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act" and would be accompanied by the seven monster girls he was hosting.

Ah yes, monsters. They were kept a secret by the Japanese government for years on end and only recently released this information to the public. Japan then passed a bill known as the "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act", which would allow monsters to live among the human population in Japan with host families much like an exchange student. Most people volunteered to be a host for a monster, but some where not so fortunate. This was the case for your friend that you had over, Kimihito Kurusu. He had a monster girl by the name of Miia given to him by mistake by the Exchange Act's coordinator, Ms. Smith. He didn't feel right with just sending the poor girl away, so he allowed her to stay and live with him. He thought it was a bit odd living with a half snake, half human girl, also known as a lamia, but he soon grew accustomed to it.

Then he took in another girl by the name of Papi, who was a harpy, or a half bird, half girl. And Kimihito continued to take in monster girls that happened to stumble into his life that didn't already have a host family. The other girls he housed were named Centorea, a centaur which meant she was half horse, half human, Suu, who was a slime girl, Meroune, who was a mermaid, Rachnera, who was an Arachne, meaning she had the upper body of a human and the lower half of a giant spider, and finally there was Lala, a Dullahan, which she says is like being a death god. A few of the girls went by nicknames though. Centorea went by Cerea, Meroune went by Mero, and Rachnera when by Rachnee. Each girl also gave Kimihito a nickname with the exception of Lala. Miia called him Darling, Papi used Boss, Cerea called him Master or Milord, Suu chose Master, Mero used Beloved, and Rachnee called him Honey. The closest nickname Lala would use was to address him was Mortal, but she pretty much called everyone that.

You wondered how on Earth Kimihito kept up with his bills, but decided not to question him on it. It wasn't like it was your business anyway. What was your business though was keeping track of your house guest for the day, and right now one of them was missing from outside. That one just so happened to be Rachnera. She creeped you out a bit, and it concerned you that she wasn't within your sight. You weren't afraid of spiders, but something about her made you more than a bit jumpy. Perhaps it was that she could easily find you and tie you up in her silken thread that she used to make webs and traps. Yes, that was definitely one thing that tipped you off a bit.

Your attention was on the food you were making until you heard the sound of footsteps, but they weren't coming from the floor. They were coming from the ceiling, and not from the second floor either. You automatically knew who it was, and you frowned at it. So that's were she had run off to.

"Rachnera, I know that you're on my ceiling, and I don't appreciate you trying to sneak up on me," you said in a serious tone, not even bothering to look in the Arachne's direction.

She pouted and crossed her arms. "You're no fun (y/n) dear..."

         "Please don't call me 'dear'..."

"Why? It's a harmless little pet name for a divine woman like yourself~."

"Because you're bound to say things like that after it. Now come back outside with me please for snacks and drinks."

          She sighed. "Oh, alright..."

         "Thank you."

You walked out of the house, Rachnera following you like she agreed to. You used your house's back door that lead to the patio and pool. A smile lit up your face as you looke at the other girls and Kimihito while you set down their requested food and drinks. Kimihito walked over to the pool and lifted Mero out of the water, carrying her over to the chairs and table you had on your patio. He placed her down and took a seat between you and Miia. The lamia had been glaring at you when you had met earlier that day, insisting that you were going to take "Darling" away from her with you good looks and all human body. You had to spent at least an hour convincing her that you had no romantic feelings towards your childhood friend after you had tripped and he had caught you in a very compromising position. After she accepted the fact that she would still only have six competitor's for Kimihito's love, she seemed to act like you were her best friend.
