Recovery

They walk in to Lyla's hospital room and Bruce immediately runs to her bed side.

"Oh Lyla, please..."

"She won't wake up for a couple hours, because of the medicine we had to give her to get rid of the pain."

"Okay, doctor."

Jim Gordon says looking at Bruce.

Bruce lays his head on Lyla's chest and cries.

"I'm sorry, I should have told you not to go." I shouldn't have pushed you. I just didn't want anyone to die.

Jim Gordon puts his hand on Bruce's shoulder.

"It's not your fault, Bruce."

"Yes, it is!"

He sobs even harder.

Kendall walks over to the other side of her bed and grabs her hand.

"Y-you are the best, and the only friend I've ever had." You are my sister.

Her eyes tear up and she tries to prevent her self from crying.

She holds her, warm limp hand.

Jim, Harvey, and Alfred wait in the chairs while Kendall let's go of Lyla's hand and walks over to sit down next to Alfred.

Bruce doesn't move at all and still cries on Lyla's chest with his head down.

"Hey, Alfred."

Kendall whispers.

"Yes, Kendall?"

"I really want to thank you so much."

"For what exactly?"

"For taking Lyla and I into your home, giving us a place to stay as well as clothes and food and giving us a second chance." You are the closest person that I have to call my parent or someone that takes care of me.

"Alfred smiles and hugs Kendall."

"Anything for you my dear, It's my job to protect."

Kendall starts crying.

"What's a matter?"

"I just wanna know if she will be alright."

"She will be okay, she's made it this far."

It's been an hour and a half and Lyla wakes up.

Bruce still has his head down on Lyla's chest and doesn't realize she's waking up.

"Br-bruce..."

She says opening her eyes and seeing him crying on her.

He lifts his head up and looks at her shocked.

"You're awake!"

He wraps his arms around her softly and she hugs him with her hand on his back.

He lets go and looks at her.

"What happened?"

Jim Gordon and the rest gather around her bedside and smile.

"You were umh stabbed severely by a guy."

Jim Gordon says seriously looking at her.
