Author's note: all the songs I mention in this chapter are real songs. I'm just pretending Niall wrote them.

Previously in chapter 3:
"You're over me right? It shouldn't be a problem for you to hear me talking about someone else."

"My heart's already breaking, baby, go on twist the knife." He mumbled.

"What?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared up at the ceiling. "Are you sure I'm the drunk one?"

"Just song lyrics." He explained.

"You write songs?" I asked, turning my head towards him.

"Well, I gotta do something during the nights when I can't sleep. And to answer your question, yes I'm over you."

"Good, 'cause I don't want to like, hold you down or anything."

"You're not." He looked over to me with a little smile on his lips.

And that's when I knew I was going to fall for him all over again.

You know when you wake yourself up by hitting your foot into a brick wall? Yeah, that's what happened to me the next morning. My eyes shot open when I felt the pain spread through my foot and the headache started kicking in as soon as the light from the window hit my face. It took me a few seconds to realise and remember where I was. I slightly groaned to myself, stretching in the bed. The room was empty so I wondered where Niall were.

Maybe he doesn't live here and left me here to die

I eventually rolled out of the bed and felt the cold floor under my feet. I tugged at his t-shirt I was wearing and rubbed my eye. I made my way over to the couch, placing my hand on the cushion. It was a bit cold, so he's been gone for a while. I sat down and reached for one of the notepads on the coffee table. Mostly it was just unfinished sentences in his handwriting. He had written the date at the top of every paper and small drawings all over the paper when he had ran out of words. I picked up another notepad and opened the first page. I flipped through the pages but stopped when I saw something that caught my eye.

OLIVIA

He wrote a song about me?

I frowned and started reading the fuzzy sentences.

"Remember the day when we've given up? When you told me I didn't give you enough, and all of your friends were saying I'd be leaving you? She's lying in bed with my t-shirt on, just thinking how I went about it wrong. This isn't the stain of red wine, I'm bleeding love. Please believe me, don't you see the things you mean to me? Oh I love you, I love you, I love, I love, I love Olivia. I live for you, I long for you Olivia. I've been idolizing the light in your eyes, Olivia. I live for you, I long for you Olivia. Don't let me go.

I flipped page again.

I WANT TO WRITE YOU A SONG

"I wanna write you a song, one as beautiful as you are sweet. With just a hint of pain for the feeling that I get when you are gone, I want to write you a song. I wanna lend you my coat, one that's as soft as your cheek. So when the world is cold, you will have a hiding place you can go. I wanna lend you my coat."
