Previously in chapter 22:

"Hey, Olivia?" I called out and she turned around. "Earlier tonight you told me not to forget you when I'm "famous", but do you remember what I said to you after my last football game in high school?"

Despite the dark I saw her frowning.

"I said that I would never forget about the girl who made me fall in love for the first time. And I'm keeping that promise."

"Do you remember what I told you?" She said.

I shook my head and put my hands in my pockets. In reality I remembered, I just wanted to hear her say it.

"I'll never forget about the boy who saved my life."

"Don't tell me you're going to sit inside all afternoon and study?" Zara complained and I saw she was holding her denim jacket in her hand. "The weather is beautiful."

"I have to get this assignment done. Besides, Marcus is coming by later and then we'll take a walk or something. Promise."

Zara smiled and quickly looked down at her phone when it buzzed.

"Going somewhere?" I asked.

"Yeah...um... out." She said without looking up from the screen.

"With...?" I teased.

"What? Oh, just Vicky."

"Weird, because she told me after class she was visiting her grandma today. Go ahead, Zara, tell me who it is you're really seeing."

"Jake." She sighed. "I don't know. Remember that we had a little on/off thing, mostly because you and Niall were together?"

I nodded.

"It feels like we're back to where we were three years ago."

"And that's great, isn't it?"

She shrugged. "I guess. Okay, we have to talk about this later. He's waiting for me."

I grinned.

"Have fun you two."

"Shut up." She muttered before leaving.

I shook my head to myself, smiling. Then I reached for my phone to type a message.

I returned to my assignment, but it didn't take long until my phone buzzed.
