Previously in chapter 38:
A small frown was on his face as he looked at the CD case. Then the frown was replaced with a big smile.
"For when you're broken." He read out loud. "It's the mix tape I made you when we celebrated Christmas at Zara's place."
"I thought it might work on you too."
"Huh?"
"For when you're broken. Instead of it being mine, it can be ours."
"You just don't know how to make your own mix-tapes." He smirked. "Thank you. It means a lot to me that you kept it."
"Of course."
He smiled before kissing me. I pulled away quicker than I wanted.
"Now let's go downstairs. And remember to act surprised." I told him.

Niall carried me on his back down the stairs and out to the backyard. People yelled 'surprise' and 'happy birthday' all at the same time, and Niall pretended to be scared and drop me, but making me slide down from his back carefully. His old teammates rushed up to us and lifted him up in the air, chanting his name like they used to do when he made the winning score at a game back in high school.
My friends came up to hug me and Maddie handed me a drink.
"He knew, didn't he?" Katelyn laughed, placing her arm around my shoulders.
"Yeah." I laughed, looking at Niall. "But I didn't tell him!"
"He's not a very good actor." Lucas said, and Casper agreed.
"I bet you and Niall will be next." Brooke smirked at him. "Having a kid."
"Woah, woah, woah! We just got back together."
"Didn't you also just move in together?" She continued to smirk.
"What about you and Caleb, huh? You've been living together for quite some time." I said.
"Oh, that's right!" Katelyn exclaimed. "I bet you two will have a kid together before Niall and Olivia."
"Thank you." I chuckled. "Have any of you been to see them yet?"
"We went there yesterday." Casper said, pointing between him and Lucas.
"I dropped by for an hour or so earlier today." Maddie said. "She's absolutely adorable."
"Any name yet?" I asked, sitting down in a lounge chair.
"They're still trying to agree on a name."
"What will you name your future kids?" Brooke asked us all before sitting down next to me.
"If it's a boy, I'd like to name him James. And Lucy if it's a girl." Katelyn said.
I looked over to the group of cheering guys again. They had put down Niall by now, and he was sipping on a beer and laughing with his friends. But we still managed to make eye contact. He winked at me before returning to the conversation with his friends.
"I think we'll figure something out once the baby is born." I said, still smiling while watching him.
