Guess who's planning on maybe writing another Nilivia story once Fight For Her is over? *smirk face*

Picture of Niall.

Previously in chapter 8:
"Is there someplace you need to be?" Chloe asked when I checked my phone for like the fifth time since we sat down. Marcus and Josephine looked at me too.

"Actually..." I trailed off, not knowing how to finish the sentence.

"Or do you just wanna get rid of us?" Chloe teased.

"No, I just... I'm gonna meet up with Casper." I said, obviously lying to them.

Back to being the lying Olivia again

Damn it

"If that's okay." I added.

"Of course. As long as you're not cheating, I don't mind." Marcus joked.

"I would never."

------------------------------------------------------------

I approached the familiar football pitch. It felt like a lifetime ago since I was here last, but after all, it's only been two and a half years.

I had dropped off Marcus and Chloe at the bus station five minutes ago, and as soon as they were out of sight I texted Casper.

"If anyone – by any chance – ask if I was at your place today, please cover for me. I'll explain later x"

In the very middle of the field I saw someone lying on the ground. Niall was lying on his stomach, a football underneath his chin. Why he was lying on the cold ground was a mystery to me. But Niall has always been weird.

I walked over there. He didn't even notice me approaching because he was scrolling around on his phone.

"We're still not supposed to be here, are we?" I asked.

He was a bit startled by my voice and quickly looked up.

"I didn't think you'd show up." He casually said as he crawled up from the ground. "But I'm glad you did."

"Are Tyler and Jake joining us?" I questioned, looking around at the empty pitch.

Niall shook his head.

"Not this time. I wanted to talk to you, alone."

I crossed my arms and looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

"I asked you to come down here today because you deserve an apology."

What?

"Last night I realised that I never really apologised to you. What I did was a real dick move and back then I don't think I understood what actually happened. I broke your heart. And both of us know that it wasn't the first time I broke someone's heart."

I unfolded my arms, relaxing as he spoke. He stuck his hands deep into the pockets of his jacket before continuing.

"I was madly in love with you, and any fool could see it. It wasn't just a silly romance and I guess that's why it hurts so much to know you're happy. Selfish, I know." He slightly chuckled. "But I'm also happy you're happy. You deserve to be happy. And I've decided that it's my turn to move on. Do you have some advice on how?"

"Time." I mumbled, looking away from a second. "It takes time."

He nodded a little.

"Once again, I'm glad you're here. It means you've forgiven me." He said.
