Gif of Marcus.

Previously in chapter 7
"Your favourite book? I quoted it when we were on the rooftop at school."

She realised what I was talking about and smiled.

"I'm here because of you. You're my priority. Your happiness, in some fucked way, is tuned in to mine. Get that through your thick skull. Would I like it any other way? Hell yes, but I don't think that will be happening in my lifetime." She said while looking out on the street.

"See, you can still quote your favourite book even though you're wasted." I told her, slightly laughing.

"No matter how drunk I am... my favourite things will always be on my mind."

"You would be able to list all of Ryan Gosling's films too, wouldn't you?" I chuckled.

But she shook her head. "I can only remember things that reminds me of you."

------------------------------------------------

We sat there in silence for a while. She hiccupped from time to time before eventually lying down on the cold ground. I glanced at her every now and then, just so I would be aware if she fell asleep.

"Do you believe in destiny?" She suddenly asked, staring up at the stars.

"No." I said. "I don't believe in love at first sight, faith or any of that crap."

"So you think that it was just a coincidence that I met you at the bar a few weeks ago?"

"What else would it be?"

"Destiny."

I looked at her over my shoulder.

"And why would it be destiny?"

"I think," She started off and sat up. "That someone up there wants us together." She looked up at the stars.

I frowned.

"Maybe not together as a couple, but at least friends." She continued and looked at me.

I chuckled a little. "We were never friends, Olivia. We just hung out because-"

"Because of the bet." She cut me off, immediately making me feel bad about sitting here.

"Can we talk about that? I never got the chance to actually explain myself."

"I might not even remember this tomorrow, but go ahead." She said, lying down on the ground again.

"When we broke up, I told you why we had the bet. But what I never told you was how I felt about it. In high school I was a jerk, we can both agree on that, but... you changed me. I didn't think it was possible, but you did. At first I tried continue my life like it was before. I tried seeing other girls, but no one was ever good enough. I've never been in love before, I've never told someone I love her before and I've never sacrificed so much for someone before. And the more time I spent with you, the more I fell for you. The bet was my least concern and I tried several times to cancel it. Tyler is a good guy, but when it comes to money, he looks past friendship. He used to have a gambling problem, despite his young age. I tried to explain for him that what I felt for you was real and you were definitely not just another girl. Ty just laughed in my face. I wouldn't have written songs about you if I didn't truly loved you."

I looked over my shoulder again, and she was still just staring up at the stars.

"I believe in destiny." She eventually said, totally ignoring what I just said. "I believe we met again for a reason. Someone wants to give you a second chance. And I'd probably give you one if I wasn't with Marcus."
