Be Mine

-Ellie's prov-

I fucked up, I fucked up. I was pacing back and fourth in a small clearing in the woods. Why did I do that? It must be because I panicked, yeah, I panicked all right. Flopping down onto the ground I couldn't help but let out a shaky laugh. Way to go Eleanor.

" You know how hard it was to run at top speed to find you?"

Crap. Turning I saw my brother, who was sitting on the ledge of the building. Not saying anything I fell back, so I was looking up at the cloudy sky, wondering what he was going to say.

" Father would know what to say to you, but since he isn't here. I have to try my best. Grow a pair and go face Abe."

Well that made me feel about a hundred percent better...not.

" I have a pair Red, and they are on my chest. I'm not going back. I can't I feel like a damn fool."

He snorted,

" I know a thing or two about that. Common Ellie, you seen me around Liz. I'm more trouble than I'm worth, but she loves me anyway. I mean if she didn't then that's going to suck when the kids are born. Abe will understand, he is your best friend. He cares about you, even though it's not the way that you wish it could be."

Sniffing I grumbled,

" Well if I wasn't so scared to look at him right now my pride would be getting in the way then."

" To hell with your pride. Face him eleanor. As your big brother-"

" Dad found me about fifteen seconds before you."

"- I will not let you die alone. If Abe rejects you then I will find a nice guy I approve of."

" Lord help me if that happens. I will be single forever."

I said, turning and giving a small smile. He was smiling but then there was something dripping down his cheek. His smiled faded and he shuffled away,

" No. Just got somethin in my eye...My little sister is growing up. She has a crushhhhhh. Ellie has a crushhhh!"

How childish could he get? Getting up I walked over to him and tried to get in into a choke hold, but my arms were too short. He got the point and grabbed my arms. Turning to look at me with a grin. Then he jumped, sending us almost halfway across one roof and over another.

" FUCK!"
I screamed, as he almost dropped me. Just because I was almost unbreakable doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. He did this all the way home, not letting me go when he dropped down from the buildings and started to sprint at full speed. I was glad that I, being the small of the pair, was way faster by comparison, but it was nice to see that he still cared. When we got to the house the lights were on and it was raining lightly. Red set me down and I couldn't help wanting to turn around again and run. But I knew I had to go inside soon or Liz might light me up. Somehow. Walking into the house I realized that Abe was nowhere to be seen, I was safe. Maybe I could go hide in my bedroom and only come out if I was absolutely certain that he wasn't around. Chicken Ellie is back. Scurrying down the stairs I slammed into someone. Please let it not be him, please let it not be him...glancing up I saw his dark blue eyes look at me.

" Ah crap."

I tried to back up but his arms snaked around me and he pulled me to him,

"Why so blue?"

He said, apparently trying to make a joke but I was frozen.

" You didn't have to run away from me. I understand."

A flash of anger filled me, he understood? This time I pulled away, not caring if it was rude.

" Understand? I felt like a total god damned asshole when I realized that you loved her. I understood that though. I understood I was never going to be able to love you like she did. I understood that when she died you were never going to be the same. I tried to be there for you but you shut me out. Something you told me that I should never do. So what now Abe? I realized that you still love her, so I kept me stupid little crush on you a damned secret, shutting myself away so I wouldn't ruin our friendship. I understand if you-"

Then he kissed me, hands on either side of my face. Freezing I couldn't believe what was happening at that second. Was he really kissing me or is this a messed up dream. If it was then I don't want to wake up. Unless there was some mighty fine coffee waiting for me.

" Thank you for shutting up Eleanor. Now, I have something very important to say and I don't need your snippy comments right now. One, I missed your angry little banters like you wouldn't believe. Two, this is not a dream. Three there is always good coffee upstairs but that's for later, four. I love you. Five, will you be mine?"

And here comes the tears, I nodded, leaning my forehead on his chest,

" I love you Abe...I'm sorry I was such a butt about it."

He just laughed and hugged me tight. Thanks Red. I owe you a few beers. 

  " He might like that."

Abe said, pulling away. I heard a few sniffs and turned to see that Liz and Red were standing on the stairs, Liz was ginning and Red was sniffing.

" My baby sister is all grown up now Liz! They just grow up so fast."

Laughing while rolling my eyes I couldn't help but think, what the heck happens next?

" I have no clue, but if it's with you then I don't care."

" Awe, you are so sweet."

" You would know. Do you have any idea how much I missed your thoughts?"

" I don't know, how about as much as I like baked beans?"

" Eleanor you hate them. I love hearing your snarky comments and just your thought process. It's entertaining."

" Jee thanks."

" Stop the mental conversation, for all I knew it's messed up."

I glared at him,

" Ew, nasty. Grow up Red."

" Then you need to stop running away from your problems."

This was going to be a long, long, long adventure.
