 -five years later-

Rose stood there, glaring at me with her arms crossed. She was trying to make me teach her hand to hand combat, and boy was she pissed at me. I stood there, my own arms crossed as I stared down at her. She was tall for a seven year old, but sometimes she acted like she was forty. It was almost like she had got Abe's smarts and every. Single. Ounce. Of. My. Stubbornness. And oh lord I couldn't help but want to apologize to Father about how much hell I gave him because I swear if I wasn't dealing with it times three. Violet and Fern were a little more manageable, but they had their moments. They mirrored each other and it was almost cute sometimes. I was proud to say they all had my hair, long and silver. But they had a smaller version of his eyes and faint markings along their arms and legs. Like their older sister, they had a faint blue hue to them. And they were all beautiful.

" Mom, I hand handle it. It's not like you and Dad didn't go on missions when you were younger."

Her voice cut through my thoughts, and it was almost impossible to not snort at her logic.

" Rose, I was sixteen when I started to fight monsters and even then Grandpa would worry about Uncle Red and me. It wasn't like I just ran headfirst into a battle."

" Don't lie to her. Your mom used to ignore her dad unless it suited her and always did what she wanted."

Liz walked in, she lead my twins and her own into the room, in her arms was the small kitten that they had found outside earlier today. Shooting her an angry look I almost fell over when the twins both shouted,

" Sister! Dad said that if you bribe mom with coffee she will teach us!"

Liz's twins laughed and nodded, joining Rose over where she was standing. All of them faced me, eyes wide and bright with the hope of me caving. and....I did. Letting out a huge sigh, I pointed to the door.

" Go chance into shorts and a tank top, no shoes and pull your hair up so that it's in a high ponytail."

And then the room was clear, the sound of feet hitting the floor as they all ran to go get changed. Liz's laugh was loud,

" That's so not fair Liz. I...I don't want them to grow up too fast. I keep seeing them as a little baby I just brought home. Our oldests are seven and my youngest are just now five."

Her sigh was loud,

" And I get that. We have both been there every day for each others kids. They are like my own as well. But they have had a sheltered life so far, not having to do anything really. It's better to take time now to teach them to live and survive now before something forces them to test themselves. So stop being the overbearing Mom and teach them to defend themselves. Red is more of a punch shit and ignore actual moves. It's all luck. Abe...he is a strategist, not a fighter, guns are his best bet. You and I are their best bet until they are older to work with their abilities. So...ready to teach our kids how to kick ass?"

Her words had sense to them, and it made me grin at the idea of our family depending on each other and kicking ass while saving the world. My girls being both like me and Abe, showing off the best in themselves. They were the next generation and I swear even the god of death will fear our family. Soon they were all standing in the center of the room, their faces full of determination as they stared at me, waiting for me to begin the lesson.

" First off...don't go rushing into battle...this could save your life someday."

A/N: So I decided I'm going to make a second book! I had a few people message me and say that they would love to see this continue. I just hope that y'all would read the next one.  I found that this chapter total word count was 666 so that was funny. I can't wait to see everyone in the next book! See you then!  ~Lanie
