Chapter 35

Mom, dad, Gray, and Anna were all shocked by my choice of length and color but didn't tease me too much.

I posted a picture on Instagram. I was scrolling through Instagram when I get a face time call from Adam.

I answer quickly excited to show him my new hair.

"He- Woah Hazel your hair!", he exclaims making me laugh.

"You like?", I ask smiling.

"Yeah I do", he says smiling.

"Good", I say.

"You should come over before it gets to dark", he says.

"Or you could come here", I say and he frowns.

"I don't think I can", I hear Adam say suddenly whispering.

"Adam, what's wrong?", I ask.

"Hm? Nothing", he says speaking normally again.

"I'm coming over there", I say.

"Its late I'll talk to you tomorrow", he says but in his background I see him looking at something.

Or someone.

"Adam what are you looking at?", I ask suddenly feeling a pit grow in my stomach.

I remember last time when I was in this situation.

"Nothing I got to go", he says before hanging up.

I slam my phone down onto the bed and march downstairs.

"Where are you going?", dad asks scaring me from his position in the living room.

"Adams house", I say and he frowns.

"Hazel go to bed", dad says and I frown.

"No dad", I say and he raises an eyebrow.

"5 minutes", I say and he shakes his head.

"School night Haz bedtime", he says and I frown.

"I love you", he says sadly. He sounded so strained.

"I love you too dad, what's wrong?", I ask walking over to him and hugging him.

"I'm not ready to let you go", he says wiping his eyes.

"And you won't have to", I say and he nods.

"Your right, your right", he says.

"Bedtime", he repeats.

I go back upstairs and lay down drifting off to sleep.

I wake up to mom ripping the covers off of me.

"Every time mom?", I ask groggily.

"Till you learn to set an alarm clock", she says before leaving with my blanket once again.

I run a hand down my face sleepily before getting up and going to my closet.

I quickly slip on my white uniform shirt and khaki pants. I slip on my black knee high boots and my black cardigan.

I go to my bathroom and quickly brush my teeth before quickly doing my hair.

I opted for half up half down where the top part is in 2 braids that are tied with a hair tie and put in a bubble bun at the end while the bottom part is left wavy.

I grab my book bag and go downstairs.

I make it down the last step when I notice mom and dad standing in the kitchen talking lowly.
