Hinihintay ko ang oras para sa dinner namin ni Vanity.
Nilulunod ko ang sarili sa pag inom ng wine dito sa loob ng aking office. Hindi ako mapakali. Laman ng utak ko ay si Cady at kamusta na siya. Nasaan kaya siya? Kelan kaya kami magkikitang muli?
I didn't mind the time until i received a call from Vanity. She's in the restaurant already.
Hinubad ko ang aking blazer at hinayaan ang puting t shirt sa at faded black jeans na suot ko.
The restaurant is just near in my office so it will not take too much time for me to get there. Mga sampung minutong pag d-drive lang ay nakarating na agad ako sa restaurant.
I handed my keys to the Valet and i headed inside the restaurant.
"Do you have a reservation Sir?" Tanong ng receptionist sa akin.
"My friend is already inside." I smiled and i swear i saw her sigh.
Iginaya niya ako sa loob hanggang sa matanaw ko na kung sino ang pinunta ko rito. She was sitting on the corner where the most romantic spot is located. Kaharap kasi nito ang fountain sa loob ng restaurant. Dalawang anghel na tila magkasintahan habang pinalilibutan sila ng mga ibon at bulaklak. The sound of the fountain makes the ambiance more romantic. But i'm not here for a romantic date with Vanity.
Tumayo siya ng mamataan ako at ngumiti sa akin. Vanity is petite and slender. She's also pretty. I don't know why she haven't found the right man for her. I'm so sure i'm not that man, though.
Lumapit ako sa kanya at hinalikan siya sa pisngi. She hugged me around my neck and gave me a peck on my jaw. She giggled after she did that.
"Hi! I ordered some wine." Bungad niya. Hindi ako makangiti pero kailangan kong pilitin. I'm here for a reason and i need to stick to it.
"Great. I needed a drink." I sarcastically chuckled.
"Oh, so shall we order?" I smiled to her and she called the waiter.
Vanity is a smart girl. She even has her own business of high fashion clothing line. She's very attractive. She's even good in bed. I wonder why she chose to settle as my bed warmer when in fact she can have any man that she wants. Well, except me. I mean, she already had me, but i just can't give her the equal kind of attention she's seeking from me.
Nag order na siya ng kanya at ganoon na din ang ginawa ko. Nagsalin ang waiter ng wine sa aming baso at maagap ko iyong sinimsim.
"So how's your sister?" Halos maibuga ko ang wine sa aking bibig dahil sa tanong niya. Alam ko kalaunan ay mapag uusapan namin si Cady pero hindi ko inasahan na ganito kaaga. Our food is not here yet!
Tumikhim ako at saka tinitigan siya sa mata. I can sense in her eyes that she's not comfortable with the question she chose but she asked it anyway.
"She's fine." Tipid kong sagot.
"I did not tell anyone, if that's bothering you." Umayos siya ng upo sabay simsim sa kanyang wine glass. Then she looked at me trying to convince me that she's telling the truth. I believe her. Thank God she did not tell anyone.
Halos mabunutan ako ng tinik at umaliwalas ang aking mukha. Iyon naman ang gusto ko talagang marinig mula sa kanya. Dahil kung may nasabihan na siyang iba tungkol sa nakita niya kagabi ay balewala na ang plano namin ni Yuriko. This dinner would be useless either.
"That's good to hear."
"Was she the reason why you haven't been in a serious relationship?" Kuryoso niyang tanong.
