Laid in bed, I stared at the ceiling, stroking Katy’s soft hair as she laid across my stomach, still asleep. The sun was breaking through the slit in the curtain, illuminating the whole room up with a dark glow. I looked over at George as he sat on the sofa on my laptop. “What are you even doing?” I whispered so I didn’t wake Katy up.

George stood up and carried my laptop over towards me as I laid in bed. As he sat down, he showed me the laptop screen. “I’ve found it and I think it’s perfect,” he grinned.

I sat up, placing Katy on the bed so she laid in between me and George, still fast asleep. Looking at the screen, I had to blink a few times to readjust to the light. Studying the laptop screen for a few moments, I couldn’t help but fall in love with every photo that appeared on the screen as George scrolled down the page. It seriously was perfect.

“What do you think?” George asked, looking at me in anticipation as he waited for my response.

I hesitated for a moment before looking at him. “I love it.”

“Good,” he grinned. “We’ve got a viewing booked for 2pm.”

Driving down the quiet road on the outskirts of London, I couldn’t stop admiring the luscious green trees that lined the road. It was right on the doorstep to the city, but it felt as if it was a million miles away – like it was in a completely different universe to London. I turned around to see Katy asleep in her car seat, clutching onto Mr Bunny as she laid facing me, silently dreaming. Turning back to face George as he concentrated on the road, I smiled.

“Stop it,” George said, after realising I was grinning at him.

“What?” I giggled. “Don’t you want me to be happy?”

“I want you to be happy but you know I hate it when you watch me driving.”

“Fine,” I smiled, turning to look out the window and to take more of the beautiful scenery in as we drove towards the house.

“Here it is,” George said as he parked the car slowly behind the estate agent’s car that was parked in front of the house already.

I looked up out of the window of the car in amazement. The house was so perfect. From the drive, you’d have expected it to be one of these huge mansions you see on the movies, but it was just the right size for us. The front garden was blooming with all sorts of coloured flowers and a tree stood proudly to the side of the house, shading the driveway. The house itself had a huge window that was the length of two floors above the grand door in the middle of the white bricked front; windows then were dotted symmetrically on either side of the building. It was literally my dream house.

“It’s like the White House,” I joked to George as I got out of the car.

“Come on,” he grinned, carrying Katy as she continued to sleep in his arms.

“You must be George and Sammy,” the estate agent smiled to us as he opened the front door and greeted us on the porch as we walked up the steps to the front door. “I’m William.”

“Yeah,” George said, passing Katy over to me so he could shake William’s hand.

“It’s a lovely house,” I smiled, cradling Katy as she slowly began to wake up.

“It’s perfect for a young family, like yourselves,” William said. “There’s a school with a good reputation just up the road and it’s got good commuting links with central London too.”
