Once George had left for the studio to work on Union J’s latest single, I decided I should probably get out of bed. George had even tried to drag me out before he left but I was having none of it. I was determined to make the most of the next nine months - well, now it was just under seven months - of lie ins. Katy was managing to take up my sleeping pattern and was probably able to sleep through a bomb so I didn’t have to worry about her waking up and screaming the house down until I went in to see her. Even if she did wake up, she would lie in bed singing to herself in her adorable baby language that was made up with the few words she did know.

Rolling over to look at the clock, I groaned. I had promised Jaymi and Olly that I’d go shopping with them as they had just got full custody of Tiami and she was about to move into their house so I agreed to help them choose out some things for her room. We even said we’d take Tiami and Katy to the park so they could meet each other and become friends. I didn't mind going - I was happy for Jaymi and Olly. It was just compromising my rare ability to have a lie in.

“Wake up sleepy head,” I smiled to Katy, who was still fast asleep in her bed. “Time to get up and go shopping.”

Pulling back the curtains to let the sunshine into the room, I was nearly blinded by the light. Letting my eyes readjust to the light, I turned back around to see Katy rubbing her eyes as she sat up.

“There we go!” I smiled as I picked her up but had to put her down after a few moments as she was getting too heavy for early morning - even though it was nearing 11am - hugs.

“Sleepy,” Katy yawned.

“Same,” I sighed, yawning immediately.

Katy ran into the hallway and straight to the bathroom. She had only just mastered the skill of running so she was still a little unsteady on her feet but it was still amazing to see how fast she was growing up - too fast for my liking.

I followed her into the bathroom and stood by the door as I watched her reach up to grab her toothbrush that was in the holder beside the sink.

“Do you want me to get it for you?” I asked, walking over to her.

She shook her head. “Do myself!” she insisted, persistent in trying to reach her pink princess toothbrush.

After a few attempts, Katy turned back to look at me and smiled. “Mummy, help,” she grinned.

“What’s the magic word?” I asked.

“Please!” she giggled, elongating the ‘e’ which just added to her cuteness.

“Good girl,” I replied, handing her the toothbrush.

Once I had helped her put a bit of toothpaste on the end of the toothbrush, Katy shoved it into her mouth and began biting it.

“You don’t do it like that,” I laughed, pulling the toothbrush from her teeth’s clutches. “Come here.”

I knelt down beside her as she gritted her baby teeth together.

“You have to move your hand in a circle while you brush so you brush everywhere,” I smiled, showing her with my hand. “Then you do the other side of your mouth.”

Katy nodded as she took the toothbrush from me and placed it back in her mouth. Instead of following my instructions, Katy went back to her style of brushing her teeth - biting the brush until it was covered in tiny little bite marks. I rolled my eyes. I knew we weren’t going to teach her how to brush her teeth today. Maybe another day. Hopefully.

Pushing Katy’s pushchair through the shopping centre that I had arranged to meet up with Jaymi, Olly and Tiami, I was searching all over the place with my eyes for any sign of them. We had arranged to meet by the water fountain in the main part of the mall at 1pm. It was now 1.10pm and there was no sign of them. Reluctantly, I decided to just stay by the water fountain so I parked Katy’s pushchair beside a bench and sat down on the bench, watching Katy as she drooled all over the straps of her pushchair.

“Don’t do that, Katy,” I sighed, trying to get the straps out of her mouth. “You’ll only moan later on when you want to sleep and can’t because the straps are soggy.”

Through her big brown eyes, Katy looked at me and gave me her traditional puppy eyes. Instead of trying to resist her cuteness, I looked in the opposite direction, only to see Jaymi and Olly holding hands with Tiami. As they walked over towards us, I stood up and unclipped Katy from her pushchair.

“We are so sorry!” Jaymi apologised as he hugged me. “There was a huge hold up on the road so we were stuck in traffic.”

“Don’t worry about it,” I smiled, giving Olly a hug. “We’ve only just got here ourselves.”

“Hello Sammy,” Tiami politely grinned, looking up at me as she put her blonde curls behind her ears.

“Hello Tiami,” I smiled, crouching down with Katy so we were at her height. “This is Katy. She’s your cousin.”

“Hello Katy,” Tiami replied, greeting Katy with a huge grin.

Katy looked at me in confusion before looking back at Tiami. “Katy, are you going to say hello to Tiami?” I asked.

Katy looked back at me and then at Tiami, before looking up at Olly and Jaymi. We were all looking at her, waiting for her to say something but instead of her saying hello to Tiami, Katy burst into tears.

“Hey, what is that all about?” Olly asked, holding his hands out for me to pass Katy to him.

Once he began cradling Katy in his arms, I stood up and looked at Tiami, who was looking at Katy in confusion. “Don’t worry about her,” I smiled, trying to reassure Tiami who was obviously worried that she caused Katy to cry. “She’s just tired. She’ll say hello to you in a bit. I just think it’s a bit too much for her to take in yet.”

Tiami nodded as she looked up at me.

“So what things would you like for your room?” I asked, trying to break the ice a little.

“You want to go to the Disney Store, don’t you?” Jaymi said to Tiami, who nodded.

“Yes please,” Tiami grinned.

“And some new clothes as well so we can get Sammy to help get you some really pretty clothes, can’t we?” Jaymi suggested.

“I’d love to help you,” I smiled.

After we had raided the Disney Store for every Disney teddy that you could possibly think of - for both Katy and Tiami, we headed straight to the clothes department stores. As soon as we walked into the children’s section, Jaymi and Olly were both gushing over how cute some of the clothes were. Katy still wasn’t at that age where clothes bothered her, luckily. Tiami picked out some clothes that she liked the look of and then Jaymi and Olly picked out the rest.

Once all of Tiami’s stuff was paid for and put in the car, we went back into the clothes stores in search of clothes for the adults. Jaymi ended up buying a new jacket. Olly ended up buying a pair of jeans. I couldn’t decide between two dresses for my upcoming performance for the VMAs so I ended up trying them both on.

Stood in front of the mirror, I looked at my reflection as I wore the first dress. My bump was only just starting to show through my clothes, but it didn’t look like a baby bump yet - it just looked like I had gained a little weight.

Putting my hand over my bump, I sighed to myself. It was going to be so hard trying to hide our secret from everybody when all I wanted to do was tell everyone. But I did like the idea of it being our secret still. We were the only ones who knew about it - apart from George’s parents and my parents.

“Sammy, are you okay in there?” Olly’s voice called from outside the changing room.

“Yeah,” I smiled, looking at the dress. “I’ll be right out, just gonna get my clothes back on.”

All shopped out, we retreated to the local play park where Tiami and Katy ran off to the swings. It was cute watching them both play with one another. You could tell just by the way they were giggling to each other as Olly pushed them both on the swing that they were going to be friends.

“I can’t believe how well they’re getting on with one another,” Jaymi beamed as he watched our kids playing together.

“I know,” I smiled in awe. “It’s great, isn’t it?”

Jaymi nodded. “It really is.”
