Since George was at the studio with the boys working on their next single and my mum had came over super early to pick up Katy so she could go with mum and Jack for a sightseeing day in London, I decided it was a day for me to do absolutely nothing. George would be late back and mum was planning a sleepover for Jack and Katy so it was the perfect opportunity for me to just chill out and not have to worry about anything.

I had been sat in the sofa so long that my ass had become permanently indented into the cushions of the sofa. The fire was roaring away to itself as I snuggled up with a hot water bottle beneath the plush throw off mine and George’s bed. It was perfect. Christmas movies were playing on the television, even though it was still nearly two months to go until the big day itself. I didn’t mind though. I loved Christmas movies. There was something extra magical about them when you were watching them in a room with all the curtains closed, shutting out all the life that was happening in the nearby city of London, with candles lit and a fire keeping you warm, snuggling beneath a blanket with your phone switched off.

I was finally starting to get into the movie and the excitement over Christmas when I was rudely interrupted by three loud bangs coming from the front door. Groaning, I got up off the sofa, heaving myself up as my bump was gradually getting bigger and bigger - nearly twice as big as I was when I was having Katy. I was only four months gone.

There was two more impatient knocks as I shuffled across the lounge towards the hallway.

“For God’s sake, I’m coming.”

Opening up the front door, the mood I was in before due to the bangs interrupting my movie day had disappeared.

“Sammy, I need help,” Chloe sobbed as she made her way into my house, barging past me in tears.

Closing the door, I turned around and looked at her in concern before wrapping my arms around her and pulling her in for a hug. “What is it? Are you okay?” I asked, holding onto her as she cried into my shoulder.

She shook her head without saying a word. I didn’t really need a response though. I could tell just by looking at her that she wasn’t okay. I didn’t say anything else; instead I just hugged her tightly and let her cry on my shoulder.

“Sammy, I’ve fucked up so bad,” Chloe sniffled as she pulled away from the hug and looked at me through blood-shot eyes. “I’ve ruined everything. I’m so stupid.”

“Calm down and then you can tell me everything,” I suggested. Well, it was more of an instruction rather than a suggestion. I could only just make out what she was saying through her snotty sobs and short gasps.

She took a few deep breaths before nodding. “I’ve ruined it all, Sammy.”

I led her into the darkened lounge and sat her down on the sofa, turning on the light as I did so. “What’ve you ruined?”

“My marriage. My family. My life. Everything.”

“Why? What’s happened?” I asked, moving the blanket and water bottle to the armchair so I could sit on the sofa beside my distraught best friend.

“I cheated on Josh.”

My jaw dropped. I looked at her in disbelief. At first I had to take a few moments to realise what she had just said and then another few moments to process the information I had just been told. I couldn’t believe it. How could my best friend of twenty years do something like this? This wasn't the Chloe I had grown up with. She might come across as one of these females who loves male attention and believes in the saying “quantity over quality” but she would never do this. Would she?
