With my legs dangling over the side of the pool. I looked at the water that was gushing down from the water feature. The lights in the pool were changing colour, illuminating the whole room up with pretty colours. It was only ten days before the wedding and I still hadn’t managed to piece together my vows. Instead of having the traditional vows, we decided to write our own as we thought it’d be more meaningful. George was putting Katy to bed, leaving me to sit by the pool and try to work on what I was going to say. Usually words came naturally to me - I never had problems with writing songs, so I didn’t understand why I was finding this so difficult.
Looking down at the blank paper in my hand, I sighed to myself and reluctantly began to start noting down starting points - how we met. Sat paddling my legs in the water, I began to cast my memory back five years ago to the moment we met.

Although I was standing in the middle of the room surrounded by nine different other acts, I had never felt so alone. My nerves had got even stronger since leaving mum and Michael in the waiting area. As everyone else was talking to one another, discussing song choices and who was their favourite judge, I stood silently as if I was invisible. Well, that was until something hit me in the back.
"I am so sorry," a voice said, going to pick up the guitar that had just hit me and landed on the floor.
"Don't worry about it," I smiled, looking up to see a boy, not much taller than I was, looking back at me with a guilty expression on his face. Not gonna even try to deny the fact that he was absolutely gorgeous – he was probably one of the most beautiful boys I have ever seen in my whole life. "I think this is yours," I laughed, handing his guitar over to him.
"Thanks," he smiled, taking the guitar off me and resting it on the wall. "So since I've attacked you with a guitar, do you wanna attack me with anything?"
As I laughed, I felt myself blushing. "I'll just get my revenge some other way," I joked, trying to hid the fact I was blushing by pushing my hair back away from my face with my hand.
"I'm George by the way," he said, introducing himself properly after we stood laughing at each other awkwardly for a few moments.
"Sammy," I smiled.
"So Sammy, come here often?" he chuckled.
"Yeah, every Thursday night for the weekly ‘get hit by a stranger's guitar' conference, you?" I winked.
"I've said I was sorry!" he said, getting all defensive and paranoid at my joke.
"Chill dude, I was joking," I laughed.
As we both laughed with each other, the man with the clipboard came back into the room again. "Audition numbers 101050, 101051, 101052, 101053 and 101054 follow me please, all the rest of you wait here," he said in the same monotone voice as before.
"I'd better go," George smiled to me.
I didn't want him to go. It was as if the guitar had hit all the nerves out of me and they had been replaced with confidence. I also didn't want him to go as there was a chance that if he went, I'd never see him again - and I really didn't want that.
"Good luck," I reluctantly smiled to him.
"You too," he grinned.
And with that, he walked off, following the man with the clipboard behind the curtain.

“What you doing?” a voice said from behind me as my legs continued to drift through the water in the refreshing pool.
