Chapter 6: Lexi's POV:
After I've been walking around this massive shopping centre for what feels like 10 years but has only been a few hours I decide to go to McDonalds to grab some food to eat. With my hands pushing a trolley completely full with around about $10000 dollars spent on clothes I take I spot in line.
I know what you're thinking how could you spend so much on clothes and where on earth did I get the money from. Well in the summer I got super bored just lounging at home cause all my friends where away on holidays at these super lush places, I decided to get a bunch of random jobs around town, which paid super well and managed to save up a heap of money.
I go to the counter and order my Chicken nuggets, frozen Raspberry (cause I hate coke), and some large chips. I wait to the side for my meal and when it arrives I find a small table off to the side of the gigantic circular food court. When I'm about halfway through my meal I feel someone tap me on the shoulder and I instantly freak.
"OH MY FUCKING GOD" I scream with looks from a bunch of people around me, mainly parents death glaring me for using such language in front of their young children.
I look up to see a tall dark haired blue eyed hottie with a jaw line so sharp that you could probably grate cheese on his face. He looks down at me than at my overflowing trolley and scrunches his forehead up in confusion.
"Oh it's just you" I say
'I honestly thought that whoever tapped me on my shoulder was gonna steal my beloved food.' I think to myself.
Chase starts cracking up laughing and I look at him confused. Then I realise I just said that out loud. I look at his face and he looks down at me still laughing and I turn red from embarrassment.
"So your smart, hot and love to eat" he says with an amused look on his face "you just keep getting better and better"
"What do you want Chase?" I asked my voice ringing with annoyance as he takes a seat across from me at the table I'm sitting at.
His face turns serious and his eyes look careful as he asks "are you okay?" I look at him completely bewildered and realise he's talking about yesterday. Confused seeps through me as I think why he would care if I am okay or if i'm not, I've heard already from so many people that him being the new kid and all, hasn't really bothered to talk to anyone but me. 'Hmm weird' I think.
He coughs snapping me away from my thoughts, realizing that he's waiting for a question. "oh I'm good" I say truly meaning it, I honestly don't care anymore, Patrick and Chelsea are probably better off together and I know that I'm heaps better off without the two of them.
"You sure you kind of ran out of school on the first day" he chuckles "like I know that the first day of school suck, especially if your like me and am the new kid but I don't think I've heard stories of anyone ditching on the first class on the first day of school" I laugh along with him.
"So what brings you to the mall?" I ask quite intrigued as to why he would be at a place like the mall. This place is mainly filled with people who are parents of young kids, girls dragging their boyfriends around or a bunch of group of young teens trying to look cool by being in big groups.
"Oh umm..." he shifts uncomfortably in his chair trying to think of a response when a lady comes up to us with dark hair, a nice tanned skin and bright blue eyes which look so familiar, carrying a little child in one hand and a small little girl around the age of 5 in the other hand. The small girl looks exactly like the mother with the same hair and eyes only her skin is much paler.
"Mummy why is Chase sitting with this pretty girl" she whispers just loud enough for me the few people around this table to hear. I look from Chase to the girl to the mum and realise that this is obviously his family. They all share the same blue eyes. When I look back over to Chase I can see his face turn a smidge red but was quickly gone when I spoke.
"Hi" I say trying to break the awkward silence "I'm Lexi" I say extending my hand to shake his mothers.
"Hi Lexi, I'm Beverly Chase's Mum" she says with a giant grin on her face "this is Daniel and"
She was cut off by the little girl who had first spoken "I'm Lucy Chases little sister" she says looking up at me with the cutest little face that I've ever seen. "are you Chases girlfriend" I almost choke on the chip I just took a bite out of.
"Oh god no" Chase says coming to my rescue "she's just a friend" he says looking down at his cute little sister.
"But she's a girl and your friend, that means she's your girlfriend" she says with the most serious face on.
Both me a Chase exchange a glance and instantly start cracking up laughing. We are almost in tears when he's mother speaks again.
"So how do you both know each other?" she asks while I try to compose myself but am finding it very hard, just as I'm about to speak Chase beats me to it.
"Well I guess you can say we first met face to face" he said making he's mum look completely bewildered and me going red from embarrassment at the thought of our first encounter, all the other moments were not that good either. it's almost as if the two of us are cursed and bad or awkward thing happen whenever we are around each other.
"That was a mistake, I honestly thought you were Chelsea" I say stifling back a giggle.
"Okay... mind if I take a seat" Beverly asks me and I nod letting her take the seat next to Chase. Little Lucy decides to take a seat next to me and looks at me with one of the cutest expressions ever.
"You are very pretty, can you be my friend?" she asks
"Awe" I say "of course your just too cute" I say making her giggle
"Chase darling could you please go get us some food, I think Lucy is hungry. We all look over at Lucy who is nodding happily away to some sort of music in her head. Chase nods and gets up to leave exchanging a look with his mum that is quite amusing to watch.
"So how long have you been in town for?" I ask trying to break the silence.
"Um let me think" she says crossing off numbers on her fingers "around about four weeks"
"Oh cool" I respond "so if you don't mind me asking what made you decide to move to this small town?"
"Um I guess for work, I got a good job and was like hell yes, so that's what brought us here" she seems like one of those super cool mums I've always wanted, the type of mum to go to random places or to go on road trips or just simply be there for her kids.
"Cool" I reply with a genuine smile on my face
"So what's with all the clothes" she says pointing to the mountain of clothes in my trolley
"Oh um" I say not sure what to say cause I'm pretty sure saying 'I caught my boyfriend of two years and my best friend making out in the school supply closet which made me decide that it's time for a change' would work so I ended up going with "I got sick of all my clothes so I'm selling them and buying some new ones" I wasn't lying I was just leaving out some info.
"Nice, i do that every now and again, you know change can be good for you sometimes" that was exactly what I wanted to hear, even though I barely knew her I already felt like she was more of a mother than my own mother. "mind if I take a peak?"
"Nah go ahead only they are a bit, what do you call it?" I try to think of something to call all the new clothes I got, they were the complete opposite to what I'm wearing now which is a baby blue long sleeved crop top and white pleated skirt just like the one I wore on the first day of school and that same pair of white shoes I wore on Monday. "Edgy" she said finishing the sentence for me. I looked up at her waiting to see some sort of judgmental face but all I saw was a face looking back at me with a smile that said 'Nice choice'. I gleamed with joy, I wanted some sort of approval before I wore them to school tomorrow, which i had to go to, there was nothing I could do about that.
