"How was your day today, mom?"

"Fine, honey."

"...W-What'd you do?"

"... Huh?"

"What. Did. You. Do. Today."

"Oh, nothing, sweetie."

"Cool... You want to know what I did?"

"Not right now, sweetie."

Jimin rolled his eyes and continued to eat his food. He watched as his stepmother typed away on her cellphone, ignoring his very existence. His father wasn't home, and wouldn't be until later that evening. He had work to finish. Of course he did. He always did.

Jimin set down his fork and took his plate to the sink. Why did he even try talking to her anymore? He was always ignored, no matter how hard he tried.

He raced upstairs and closed his door, plopping onto his bed. He pulled out his phone and began typing.

"Jungkook, r u there?"

"What?"

"Just making sure ur okay. Are u?"

"Yeah I'm fine. Why?"

"Just checking. I mean u might've fallen or something. U have crutches and a three story house for Christ sake."

"No, I'm good."

"Okay... Just wondering."

*No response

"So... How was ur day?"

"Jimin, I can't talk right now. I'll text you later. Bye."

"Is everything okay?"

*No response

"Jungkook?"

*No response

Jimin threw his phone down next to him. This was how his life was. This was what he was used to. He was used to listening. He was used to being ignored. But it was okay. He had a big house, fancy cars, both parents, all the money in the world. He shouldn't be complaining, right? Because apparently those are wonderful reasons as to why he shouldn't be depressed.

But it didn't matter. Nothing did.

All those people who gathered around him at school. Who idolized him. Who pretended to listen to him. They weren't his friends. Hell, he didn't even know some of their names. They were just people who were there for the popularity. They were the people who just wanted to be able to say, "oh yeah? Well, I hang out with the jocks and cheerleaders. I'm so much cooler than you." Jimin clenched his fists in anger at the thought.

Aside from being ignored all the time, he also had to deal with his ADHD and dyslexia. So far, he was failing almost every class. Well, he would be if Jungkook didn't let him cheat all the time. But that's what friends do. They look out for each other. Apparently, they also ignore you.

Jimin tried to push the thoughts out of his mind. He felt like he was being selfish. He wasn't that important. No. He only seemed that way. In a few years once everyone graduates, he won't matter. And he knew that. But he couldn't so easily give up popularity. It really wasn't bad, being comforted by lies. Just a few more years...

Just a few more years and then he and Jungkook could go to college together. They had it all planned out. They would go to the same college and become pro football players. Hopefully. Then, they would grow old together and die together. It sounded a little morbid, but that was life.

Jimin stared up at the ceiling for the next five hours, peacefully imagining the future with his best friend. Oh, how far away it seemed. So far, it seemed to be slipping from his grasp with every breath.
