Apologies

It was 9:34PM. Jungkook missed another football game all because of his stupid injury. One concussion and a broken leg could really fuck with a persons mood. He thought back to the night of his injury.

He was running after the ball and then... Oh what happened, again? Oh yes, Jungkook saw Taehyung out of the corner of his eye. Watching him. Standing by the fence surrounding the field. He had a grin on his face... Something evil. Evil enough to distract Jungkook. Next thing he knew, he was unconscious.

Junkook snapped back to reality. He sat in his car and stared at the side entrance of the school. The game had just ended and he watched as a bunch of band kids filed back into the school to put away their instruments. He would honestly rather be doing that than sitting in his car doing nothing.

He kept watching until something caught his eye. Someone. It was Taehyung. The boy was carrying a case by his side as he walked into the building. Now's my chance. I can finally properly apologize to him without any interruptions. Jungkook hastily climbed out of his car and walked as fast as he could, though his crutches really slowed him down. The asphalt was wet, making it five times more difficult to walk than it originally was.

Once he made it to the door, he checked his watch. 9:45PM. It had taken him ten whole minutes to walk from his car to the school. He better accept my apology, Jungkook thought to himself as he clumsily opened the door.

"Hi, Jungkook!" A group of freshman band kids waved to him. He waved back, though he didn't know them. It was the nice thing to do, right? Everyone knew him. He didn't know anyone.

He pushed open the band room door and nearly fell inside. Once he regained balance, he looked around. The room was somewhat old and dusty, and smelled of sweaty kids. Jungkook had never been in there before. He looked around for Taehyung.

"Hey, have you seen a guy named Taehyung?" He asked a boy who was carrying drum sticks.

"That bastard? Yeah, he's in the cafeteria. Don't know why you'd want to talk to him, though," the boy said and walked off. Jungkook sighed and turned around, though, this time he really did fall.

Once he made it to the cafeteria, the clock on the wall read 10:05PM. He scanned the room until he saw the familiar brunette sitting alone in the corner, staring at a wall.

"Taehyung! Taehyung, over here!" Jungkook called as he made his way over to him. Once he saw him, the boy's face turned somewhat scared. Jungkook knew why.

"Don't worry, Jimin's not here. He won't hurt you, now," Jungkook reassured him. The boy's face went back to being blank.

"Why are you here," Taehyung scowled, staring at Jungkook with cold eyes.

"I wanted to apologize, for real this time. Without any interruptions. So," Jungkook cleared his throat. "I'm truly, deeply sorry for tripping you. I'm sorry that I called you a pathetic loser. I'm sorry I let Jimin beat you up. I'm sorry I let him throw you into the middle of the road. Do you forgive me?" Jungkook asked, scared of what his answer might be.

"Hmm, you've apologized for mostly everything you've said and done. You just forgot one thing-"

"What is it?"

"Nothing. It's not important, I guess, if you can't remember what it is," Taehyung sighed. Jungkook raked the back of his mind but couldn't think of anything.

"But, I accept your apology. Thank you," Taehyung finally said, making Jungkook feel relieved.

"Though..."

Jungkook gulped.

"Did you ever apologize to that scrawny Jin kid?"

Jungkook didn't answer.

"I mean, you let Jimin beat him up, you've teased him before. You pushed him in the hallway and didn't even bother giving him his paper back-"

"Y-You saw that?" Jungkook asked.

"Yeah. I did. But I'm no better, am I? I didn't help him out or even give him his paper," Taehyung said as he dug into his coat pocket.

He pulled out the same piece of paper that Jungkook had carelessly thrown behind him in the hallway so long ago.

"Why'd you keep that? Why didn't you give it to him or throw it away?" Jungkook asked as he stared at it.

"Well, I found it quite interesting. It's about a fallen angel, though I think you already know that considering you read it before throwing it behind you," Taehyung said.

Jungkook felt as though he were being interrogated. He wanted to leave. He wanted to get into his car and drive back home. He didn't need this kind of guilt following him around everyday. He would've apologized to the other boy, too. He just... Forgot. That's all.

"I'll um... Let you keep this though," Taehyung said with a grin as he slipped the paper to Junkook. "You can decide what to do with it. Think of it as a second chance."

Jungkook stared at it before slowly picking it up and stuffing it in his pocket. He was just about to get up when Taehyung continued talking.

"Why are you friends with him?"

"What?"

"Why are you friends with Jimin? He's a jerk. You're honestly too good for him."

"I-I don't know. We've been friends since like 8th grade. It'd be weird to just randomly end our friendship out of nowhere. Plus, he may be a dick to you, but he looks out for me."

"Well if you guys are so close, try telling him to be a little more... Nicer. Maybe you can convince him."

"That won't happen. Look, that's just how he is. That's just his personality. And I'm not trying to change people because of who they are. Sorry," Jungkook said as he looked the boy in the eyes.

"Whatever. He's an asshole, and he can't use the excuse of personality forever. But I'll make him change. Just wait," Taehyung promised as he got up. Jungkook just stared at the floor as he turned the corner and left.
