Ghosts / Haunted Houses: Stories that focus on the soul, spirit or apparition of a dead person or animal, or the house they haunt. The paranormal entries in this reading list use ghosts or haunted houses as the main trope in their story.

Psychic / Supernatural Powers: This list includes the paranormal entries that use unnatural powers as the main trope in their story. This includes but is not limited to telekinesis, clairvoyance, talking to the dead, necromancy, and characters who are identified as witches. This is to be considered different from Fantasy Magic.

Book clubs and Contests: All paranormal book clubs and contests that follow the community guidelines. Inclusion in this list is for informational purposes only, to make the community aware,  and does not necessarily mean endorsement of the groups or contests.

Paranormal Romance: All Paranormal Romance stories where romance is perceived to be the main plot ( "Will they get together?", "Who will the main character choose?", etc.) will be referred to ParanormalLovers for consideration in their reading lists.  We will still accept and curate them on behalf of ParanormalLovers, but ParanormalCommunity will no longer be hosting a Paranormal Romance list, as there are so many great stories they deserve their own profile!

Aliens/Cryptozoology/Shapeshifters: These stories explore the a paranormal experience around alien abductions (not including stories more appropriate for Science-Fiction) and cryptozoological stories, which are creatures supported by lore but not by science, known as "Cryptids". These include but are not limited to Big Foot, Chupacabras, the Loch Ness monster, Yeti, Kraken,  Mothman, Skinwalkers,  Wendigo, etc.  This will also include Shapeshifters, but not Werewolves, which are more appropriate for the WattyWolves profile.

Folkloric and Mythological Beings: This list includes beings that are often found in cultural lore, but are not typically considered Cryptids, and are not more appropriate for a Fantasy setting (such as dragons or Tolkien-esque elves.) These include Fae, Mermaids, Yokai, Oni, Aswang, Manananggal, Kirin, Draugr, Djinn, Trickster Gods, Sirens, Morrighan, Leprechauns, Dullahan, etc.

WPRS related: WPRS related books that are considered 'canon' for WPRS lore. WPRS fanfiction will be considered and is heavily encouraged but should not be in the Fanfiction genre. These will require Magister approval and should be directed to @FinnyH.

Paranormal Hunters: Hunters of the paranormal, include, ghost hunters, vampire/werewolf hunters, monster hunters, etc. Will also include those who investigate, but do not necessarily hunt, paranormal events and encounters.

Divine or Demonic: Paranormal stories that use divine beings, demonic possession, or angels and demons as the main trope are included in this reading list. Will not include Romantic focused stories.

Poetry: Paranormal poetry that follow the community guidelines. Must be a book of mostly Paranormal poetry. Individual poems may be submitted to the Bards for consideration in the Haunted Verses book.
