Chapter 6

Bella's P.O.V

We headed onto the road and going through Forks town. As we drove, I watched as we went by all the stores and restaurants. I saw my friends Jessica, Angela, Mike, and Eric walk out of a restaurant. As we pass them, I saw the Forks sign that says the city of Forks welcomes you and a small sign next to it saying population 3175. As we pass, we drove over the bridge and onto the main road where forests were everywhere. As we pass trees, I heard howling and I was sure it was Jacob, just when I saw a russet brown wolf hiding in the forest and I wave goodbye. A tear came down my face and I wiped it away with my hand. I laid back against the seat and fell asleep.

Jacob's P.O.V

After seeing Bella on the road one more time, I ran back into the forest and ran back home. When I got to the nearest forest to my home, I phased back into human form and grabbed pants that I had hidden in the forest. I slipped those on and ran home. I walked in and saw my dad sitting in the kitchen with Sue Clearwater.

"Hey, dad." I said sitting down.

"Hey, son. How are you?" Dad asked.

"Good, I guess. I said goodbye to Bella, and it was really hard for both of us."

"I bet, but you will adjust and besides you're leaving tomorrow and your sisters are picking you up at the airport."

"Oh, wait Rachel is already in Hawaii?"

"Yeah she left this morning, and she took the earliest morning flight."

"Oh."

"Yeah, you will leave tomorrow morning, right?"

"Yes."

"OK well, how about you go to your room and get packed?"

"OK."

Bella's P.O.V

I woke up tired with my eyes barely able to open. I stretched my legs and arms and looked out the window. It did not look like Forks anymore with all those trees and weather and it did not look cloudy and rainy. Instead, it was bright and sunny with no trees around. All I saw were cacti and dirt.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"We are in Arizona. Remember all the cacti." Mom replied.

"I remember it has just been a while for me."

"It's Jacob, right? He is in your mind right now I can feel it. You miss him a lot."

"Yeah."

"You will see him soon sweetie."

"I hope so."

She patted my leg and I smiled at her and turned back at the window.

Jacob's P.O.V

It was evening now, and I was finishing up packing for Hawaii tomorrow. I wanted to talk to Bella but that would make it even harder for her if I talked to her, but I really wanted to talk to her. I picked up my phone and sat down on my bed. I dialed her number, and she picked it up. It was so great to hear her voice right now.

"Hey Jacob, I didn't know you would call, I thought you already left for Hawaii?" Bella asked.

"No, I'm leaving tomorrow." I said.

"Oh."

"So how are you, where are you?"

"I'm fine and I'm in New Mexico."

"Already?"

"Yeah there wasn't much traffic out right now."

"So are you staying anywhere for the, night?"

"Yeah in Dallas Texas."

"Maybe I can sneak up for a little bit and see you."

"Jake you're a wolf. There are no wolves in Dallas and besides you will get yourself killed with all the traffic."

"I'll figure a way."

"Jake forget it. There's no way. I'll just see you soon."

"OK."

"Bye, Jake."

"Bye, Bella."

I hung up the phone and set it on my bed.

Bella's P.O.V

I couldn't believe I just did this to him. I bet I hurt him a lot.

"Sweetie, are you OK?" Mom asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied.

"Who was that?"

I looked at the window upset and said nothing.

"Bella." Mom said.

I looked at her and said nothing.

"No, no, it can't be. Why is he calling? I thought you said he's leaving for Hawaii." Mom said.

"Yeah, I thought so too. He leaves tomorrow."

"Oh, so why did he call?"

"He just wanted to talk to me nothing else."

"Oh."

"What?"

"Is he really the guy you want because you still have a long way to go to find the right guy."

"Yeah but mom he's the one. He is not like any other guy."

"What's so great about him?"

"There's a lot I like about him. I don't know where to start."

"Just tell me something. What is the trait you like about him that makes him so special to you?"

"He is sweet, kind, loving, caring, funny, and very generous."

"Wow. Well, I'm happy you feel that way."

"Thank you, mom."

"You're welcome, sweetie."

Jacob's P.O.V

After I packed, I ran out the door, phased into my wolf and headed into the woods for patrol. I met up with Quil and Embry in the woods and phased back into human form.

"So I heard Bella left, how are you?" Quil asked.

"I fine, I guess." I replied.

"You guess?"

"Yeah, I guess. I miss her already."

"That's what imprinting does to you."

"I know."

"We really hope you get to see her soon. We don't like to see you like this. When are you leaving to go to Hawaii?"

"Tomorrow morning so I will need you guys to take my place for a little while." I said.

"Sure, I bet Sam would have made us do it anyways."

It was silent now.

"So we should get going." I said.

We all phased into our wolf and we ran into the forest.
