"Ano? Oh my God Maine, why would you do that?" her Mom asked her after she explained the situation. Maine looked behind her and saw RJ getting questioned by Chanel in the living room.
"I panicked, Mommy. I'm sorry." she said.
"Alam ba ni Niknik 'to?"
"Nope." Maine answered, shaking her head from side to side.
"Ano? Hindi? Maine, you do know they like each other ... right?" Mrs. Mendoza asked her daughter. Maine let out a sigh and nodded.
"But Mommy, this will only be just for a day. Gusto lang makita ni Chanel si RJ, that's all. I'm pretty sure maiintindihan naman ni Niknik 'to."
"Oh bakit di mo sinabi?"
"I got scared."
"Scared? Hay naku Maine. Ayusin mo 'to ah, ayokong ito yung pagmulan ng away niyo."
"I will fix this, I promise. Just give me a day and everything will be back to normal." Maine said, hoping she and her Mom are on the same page.
"Oh sige, one day ah? Pag ganito pa rin bukas ako na mismo magsasabi kay Niknik."
"Sige po."
Mrs. Mendoza gave her one last look before she walked away. As soon as she left her view, Maine let out a sigh of relief and returned to her friends.
"Sorry , Mom's a bit antsy and stressed. What's going on so far?" she asked.
"Wala naman, medyo tahimik pala boyfriend mo no?" Chanel asked, looking at a very shy RJ.
"Eto? Tahimik? How? He's actually very talkative." she replied, only to get pinched on the back by RJ. She shot him a look and he did the same.
"Yeah, puro nods lang yung answer niya."
"What language did you use ba?"
"What?" Chanel asked, clueless.
"My babe right here is allergic to English," she said before smiling at RJ. He then wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her in so hard that the side of her head hit his jaw.
"He is?" Chanel asked again, shocked at her revelation. The thing about Maine's friend is that she's 96% beauty and 4% brain.
"Actually, I'm not allergic. I can speak in English. It's just that I'm too shy to talk to you." RJ said with a smile on his face, shocking Maine so much her mouth fell open.
"Oh my God, marunong kang mag-english?" Maine asked, not sure what to feel.
"Yep."

RJ let out a sigh of relief as soon as Chanel left. He lied to them when he said he knows how to speak English. It actually took him at least 10 minutes to convince himself that his grammar was right.
After Chanel's car completely left his sight, Maine turned and faced him. He smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Kumusta po Ma'am, di na po ba siya babalik?" he asked.
"She'll come back. You lied to me."
"Po?"
"Nagsinungaling ka sa akin ano ba?"
"Oh. Yung sa english po?" he asked and she nodded. RJ gulped and explained to her everything. He even tried to convince her that what he did was good because it made her look like she really has a good taste.
"Screw you, may taste naman talaga ako. Ivan is hot and smart."
"Pero di naman po naging kayo ... di ba sabi niyo pinaasa ka lang."
"Sige Tisoy, paalala mo pa." she said and so he giggled.
"Sorry naman po Ma'am."
"What you did today was great, paalal mo sa akin yung bayad mamaya bago ka umuwi ah." Maine told him. RJ nodded and then walked away to change his clothes.
As soon as he reached her room, RJ jumped out of joy. He had a great time with Maine, a pleasant surprise he never thought he'd experience.

Maine smiled as soon as RJ left her. She then sat on the garden bench and closed her eyes. "Another problem solved." she thought to herself. Suddenly, she remembered the Nicole situation. She widely opened her eyed and dialed her sister's number.
After a few moments, Nicole answered it.
"Hello ate!" she greeted right away.
"Hi Niknik, kumusta ka jan?"
"Okay lang , medyo busy because I'm still trying to organize my stuff."
"That's good, right?"
"Of course. Bakit ka nga pala tumawag?"
Maine's heart started beating fast. She then took a deep breath and let it out in the form of a sigh.
"Ate? why? Bakit ka tumawag?"
"Uh .... I .... I .... I just wanna know how you are, yun lang. Okay bye." she replied before cutting the call abruptly. Maine then quickly tucked her phone back in her pocket.
"What's wrong with you? Bakit di mo sinabi sa kaniya?" she asked herself. And then suddenly, a thought crossed her mind. It reminded her of what happened several years ago. It reminded her of her own insecurity, her inner demons and her weak personality.
"Oh my God Maine .... are you jealous?"

RJ spent the rest of the day with renewed strength. He did all his work happily and efficiently. After the clock struck 5:00 pm , he gathered all his stuff and started walking towards the gate.
"Tisoy!" he turned and saw Maine running towards him. His eyes widened at the sight of the small manila envelope right on her hand.
"Po?" he asked.
"Here, have this."
RJ accepted the envelope and placed it inside his bag.
"Salamat po." he told her.
"You're welcome, thank you as well. And , wag ka nang mag po , pinapatanda mo ako lalo. 20 lang ako Tisoy , I'm not 25 or 30." she answered with a grin on her face. RJ smirked and nodded at her.
"And don't call me "Ma'am", isa pa yun."
"Edi anong tatawag ko po?"
"Maine na lang ... minus the "Po" and the "Ma'am" , okay?"
"Okay."
RJ was about to leave but Maine suddenly leaned in and kissed his cheek. Surprised, he asked her what the kiss is for.
"Nothing ... I just wanna say thanks for everything. And don't worry, hindi magagalit si Niknik dito." she replied before winking at her.
"Sure po kayo?"
"Of course."
"Sige ... thanks ulit.
"Alright."
