Rj walked away with his heart pounding so hard against his chest. He kissed Maine but he doesn't know why. He went back to the maid quarters and sat on the edge of the bed. There was something about the way she told her past to him that came across as very appealing. His mouth fell open at the sight of her teary eyes. His throat became dry after he heard what happened. At least his Dad is alive, Maine's not sure if her father is.
After a couple more minutes, his tears have now dried up. He wiped them away with the back of his hands and took a deep breath. Everything that he is got shattered by the way she moved, the way she caught his attention, the way she showed him that everything is not always what it seems to be. And now, after everything that happened, he's no longer sure whether his feelings are still owned by Nicole or of his heart is now veering towards her older sister, Maine.
"Gago ka, wag mong sabihin gusto mo na siya ngayon?" he asked himself, shaking his head side by side. But even if he did not answer his own question, deep inside he knew his heart already made a decision. And it is not the kind of decision he's brave enough to face. A few minutes later, he peered through the window and saw that Maine already retreated back to the house. He let out a sigh of relief and just closed his eyes.
-
Maine went back to her own room blushing. She tried to make it stop but she couldn't. She knew feeling it is wrong but she's already way past the point of controlling things.
The young girl then looked at herself in the mirror. Her face is red and her lipstick's a bit smudged. Rj's a good kisser but every time they're doing it, they both commit a sin. Aside from that, the knife she used to stab her sister in the back gets buried an inch deeper. Maine knew right at that moment that she already stole him from Nicole. She doesn't like the idea of it. Her mind told her no but her body just kept on giving in.
"Keep it in your pants. Resist him Maine ... resist the walking sex God." She whispered to herself.
Few minutes later, her phone started ringing. Maine checked the caller and saw her sister's name flashing on the screen. She gulped and took a deep breath.
"You can do this." Maine uttered and proceeded to accept Nicole's call.
"Hello ate!" her sister gleefully greeted.
"Hello Niknik! How are you?"
"Good. Busy but I just had to know, how are you guys there? Are you alright? Is he being a pain in the ass?"
"Oh trust me Nik. He's the living, breathing humanized version of the concept of pain." Maine said, recounting what happened during their hot night together.
"Ugh, Anyway ... how are you two?" Nicole then asked. Maine gulped after hearing a change of tone in her voice, she's not just casually asking anymore. She's interrogating,
"Us? Oh we're good. Very." Maine answered, telling her sister the exact opposite of what the reality is.
"That's good. I miss you."
"I miss you too."
"Bye!"
"Bye." Maine said and the call ended. The feeling of guilt revisited her. But this time, it became much stronger.

RJ spent the most of the day still acting awkward. But he's feeling a bit better now. Especially because Maine really made him feel like he's not alone. After finishing all his chores, the young guy decided to do some grocery shopping because they already ran out of stocks, He took the list and the money that Mrs. Mendoza left in the maid's cabinet and headed out. But before he could even reach the gate, Maine stopped him.
"Where are you going?"
"Grocery po, wala na kasing stock." He replied.
"Sama ako." Maine then said.
"Po?"
"Tisoy, nabingi ka? I said I'm coming with you. May bibilhin din ako."
"Ako na lang po, ano bay un?"
"Modess."
"Ah sige, sama na kayo."
"Sus." She said, RJ then opened the gate and walked out, only to be called out by Maine.
" San ka pupunta?" she asked,
"Sakayan?" he replied.
"May kotse ako. Come on." She said and showed him her key. RJ just let out a sigh and smiled at her.
--
Maine let out a sigh of relief as soon as they reached the grocery store. RJ's been silent the entire ride. And as much as she tried to make him feel calmer, she just couldn't. There's still a wall in between them and though it may not be as high as it once were, it's still there and it's affecting them.
The two then got off the car and went inside the massive supermarket itself. Maine pulled out a cart from the line and they started buying stuff.
"Ang mahal naman dito." She heard him whisper.
"Ganyan talaga pag S&R ... mahal lahat kasi imported." She then said.
"Kaya pala may card." RJ then said in wonder. Maine smiled and looked at his serious face while reading what's written on the membership card.
"Ngayon ka lang napunta dito no?" she asked.
"Halata po ba?"
Maine nodded and so RJ quickly hid the card. The young girl smiled, she's starting to feel alright around him again.
--
They shopped for about an hour. RJ used this time to get over his fear of letting her close to him. RJ finally convinced himself that he has no control over his emotions. He's starting to fall for Maine but a part of him is still holding on to Nicole. He concocted a situation so complicated, the three of them will suffer from it no matter what.
The two then stood near the counter as the middle-aged cashier lady started checking all the items. RJ glanced at Maine and saw that she's already staring at him.
"Bagay kayo." The cashier lady said,
"Po?" RJ asked.
"Ang sabi ko Sir, bagay kayo."
"But we're-"
"Thank you." Maine suddenly said and smiled at the lady. After they paid for the products they both, the two rolled it out to the parking lot.
"Bakit di po kayo umalma?" he asked, not feeling comfortable that they lied to the cashier.
"What's the point RJ, di na rin naman niya tayo makikita ulit."
--
Things have drastically changed during that one hour of shopping. Maine realized a lot of things, and that includes the fact that they can never be together as long as he has feelings for her sister.
After they got home, Maine helped him unload all their purchases. After doing so, he stood right in front of her and apologized.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"Kasi hinalikan kita kanina."
"That's okay."
"No it's not. Di naman okay yun eh, mali ako dapat di ko ginawa yun."
"Let's just forget about it okay?"
"Paano kung hindi ko kaya? Paano kung sa tuwing susubukan ko na kalimutan yun di ko magawa? Paano kung yung halik na yun anag nagbago sa lahat ng nararamdaman ko? Di ko kayang kalimutan."
"Tisoy ... ano ba talaga tayo?" Maine asked, finally breaking all her walls down. It's too late for her yo back down now. She already fell for him the way Hazel fell for Gus in her favorite book. He was about to say something, but then the doorbell started ringing.
Maine took a peek and her heart dropped.
"Evan?"
