Chapter 10 - What's Really Going On?

"Mister Sonic!"

I turned around to see the brown-spotted cream rabbit holding an egg about the size of her head, if not bigger.

I bent down to the kid's level. "Heya, Cream. Whatcha got there?" I knew what it was, everyone knew what a chao egg looked like. It was white with large pale blue speckles; something very trademark. But I asked anyway just to flatter her.

"Oh, this?" She asked, holding the egg out, looking like she could barely carry it. "Well I found it in the little bed that Cheese and Buddy have been sleeping in. Amy says it's probably her baby!"

"That's.. that's really great, Cream!" I thought for a moment. "Does this mean that Buddy is a girl, then?"

"Yup! I know for sure Cheese is a boy," She said with a sort of happy glitter in her eye. "But this is so exciting! What are you going to do with it, Mister Sonic?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Well, your chao had it."

I gave her a warm smile as I rubbed her head affectionately. "You want it, Cream?"

Her eyes lit up. "C-can I?"

I nodded, standing up straight. "If you promise to give it lots of love and train it to be a hero chao."

"Oh I will! I promise!" She exclaimed happily before skipping off and calling for Omega. For whatever reason, she had taken a liking to the deadly robot, and he was being gentle with her; so I didn't really see a problem with it. Next thing I knew, my arm was hugged on rather tightly. I turned cautiously to see Amy, all giddy and hanging onto me.

"You're surprisingly good with kids, Sonikuu~~"

"Surprisingly?" I asked, raising a brow.

"Now I want our future kids even more~"

"Wh-who s-said you and I are having kids together?"

"The fortune teller lady said we'd get married," She said so matter-of-fact, and I knew for certain that the fortune teller had not said that. "Then," She continued. "She said we would have twins!"

I sighed, regardless. "Amy, I told you; that's a load of bologna."

Amy looked away. "So.. you don't want to marry me anymore?" She switched subjects like it was nothing.

"Anymore?" I echoed. As far as I knew, I couldn't remember ever saying anything about wanting to marry her. "What do you--"

"You said, and I quote:" She cleared her throat, then resumed in a deeper tone. "'You have to be in a relationship before marriage, so lets start off like that.'"

"Wh-what? That never happened."

She groaned. "I was like, 'Will you marry me yet, Sonic?' And you were like, 'Lets start off with something smaller. Then we'll get married.' And I was all, 'Oh Sonic I love you so much!' And then you said, 'I love you more.' And I said, 'No I love you more!' 'No, I love youuu more!!' 'No, I love--'"

"I wonder where they are.." I attempted to block her rambling out. We didn't want to go in a big group, but Tails decided it would be best for me not to go just yet and get caught up in even more of a personal mess. But we needed to find out where Knuckles was, so Shadow and Tails went to investigate the office building, leaving me to watch over Omega, who was constantly inside, and the girls, who were constantly everywhere. Nobody could be alone, what with deadly and desperate impersonators on the loose. That being said, I had been dealing with them for quite some time now, and was having a hard time; so I just stood outside and walked around the outside of the house to monitor it. They weren't exactly annoying me, I just couldn't be alone, chasing after them and all. That, and I didn't know how to contact the others; and I was worried about Tails. He had suggested him go instead of me. Maybe I've been too caught up in everything to pay attention to him, and he decided to try and be more part of it. But I didn't want him to. Going straight towards the enemy was dangerous, especially for a kid fox who specialized more in intelligence rather than fighting.
