I stood up on the hill with my hands on my hips, scanning the surrounding areas. Nothing but sand and trees for miles. My squinted gaze turned into somewhat of a glare. I spun on my heel and started to run, going back to the shore where the others were. Shadow came up beside me at nearly the same time.

"Any luck?" The dark hedgehog asked.

I shook my head. "It doesn't look like there's anything, not even a village nearby." I sighed and kicked a rock that was sticking out of the sand. "I even ran the perimeter. I just don't--"

"WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Valentine blurted, falling over and laying in the sand, the calm waves barely brushing up against her.

"We're not going to die, Valentine.." Tails said, sitting in the sand and carving into a branch with a rock. Knuckles came up beside him with an armful of debris, dropping it in a circle of stones.

I squinted from the sun and put my hand to shield my eyes. "Stupid ocean." I muttered, looking out on the horizon. It was as clear as any day could be. The sea was calm, the air was warm; as if there wasn't a freak storm last night that completely stranded us with no supplies.

"Yea-huh, we're gonna DIE! I just know it! We're STRANDED ON A STUPID ISLAND WITH NO FOOD OR FRESH WATER, NO SHELTER! NOTHING! I saw this in a movie once. Except there was one bearded guy with a puppy, and he met some scary cannibals.." Valentine ranted, sitting up and looking at the sky.

I shuddered. "I saw that! That's.. That's Robertson.. No..."

"Robinson Crusoe." Tails corrected.

"Yeah!"

"Ew, you like cannibalistic movies?" Shadow turned to me.

"Canniball-is-it?" I echoed.

He sighed and crossed his arms, sitting in the shade under a few palm trees.

I sat also, drawing random squiggly shapes in the sand with a stick.

Valentine walked over to Shadow. "Want some candy?"

"..What?"

"Want some candy?"

"I heard you! How do you have candy?"

"I always carry candy with me. I thought it got ruined because of the ocean, but it didn't! Want some? I got those little things wrapped in wrapper stuff that looks like a strawberry.."

My ears perked. Just the mention of candy made me remember that I'd been suffering a rumbling stomach since yesterday. I turned to them. "Can I have some?"

"Have some what?" The cat asked.

"Candy."

She scoffed. "I don't got no candy."

"..You just offered some to Shadow?"

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did." Shadow said.

"No I didn't. Candy? What candy? What is candy? I dunno. GRAH, just eat it you hungry pig!" She exclaimed awkwardly, throwing a handful of those strawberry things at Shadow's face before running off and tripping in the bushes.

"Ugh, I hate strawberry." Shadow brushed them off of his lap.

My eyes lit up. "Can I have them?"

"I don't really give a crap."

I picked them up and happily tore them open, shoving then into my mouth. "So what was that about anyway?" I asked.

"Who knows.." Shadow said, closing his eyes. I sat there for a few minutes, then realized that Shadow was going to be boring and in that 'don't touch me' mood. I got up and walked around aimlessly, sucking on the candy that tasted more like an old, salty orange than strawberry.
