The sky was bright and clear, not a cloud in sight. The slow, melodious rocking was trying to lull me back to sleep. Crisp, moist air tickled my skin, drenching me with goosebumps. That's when I realized..

I wasn't in the desert anymore.

I sat up suddenly, only to see miles upon miles of clear, blue ocean ahead. It took me a moment to fully wake up. I just sat there, staring.

"Sonic?" A soft voice came from behind me.

I turned to see Tails standing behind me, holding onto the rope of the sail.

"T-T-Tails Wh-why are we.. Are we on a boat?" I looked around. "We're on a boat! Why are we on a boat? In the ocean!"

Tails tied the rope and walked over, sitting in front of me. "We're headed to the South Polar Icecap now. We left the Desert yesterday, but you've been out for two days."

"Two days?" I echoed in surprise.

He nodded. "Yeah, Balor brought you back. He said he had injured you, but healed you, and that you'd be okay as soon as you woke up in a few days. They gave us this boat when we decided to leave, and some money as a reward to you. But anyway, I'm glad you're awake now. Maybe you can help with Amy.."

"Help with Amy?"

"Yeah. She kinda.. Well she thinks she's the captain of the ship and Valentine is her right-hand man-- I mean girl. Lady.. Shadow's close to throwing them overboard, because they're annoying him. They tried to make him 'walk the plank' last night."

I groaned and lay back again. "I wanna go back to sleep.." I muttered. I felt refreshed and full of energy, but I had to admit that laying in the sun was better than dealing with Amy's fantasies. But wait..

"The wedding.." I mumbled to myself.

"Hm?" Tails tilted his head curiously. "Amy called it off for some reason."

I chuckled nervously. I didn't think he had heard me.

"Oh, but guess what, Sonic? Look!" He gestured to the chain around his neck, which I would've never notice had he not pointed it out. At the end of it was a bright yellow stone. "It's the gem from the desert! We found it after you and Amy ran off. And I can use its power!"

I smiled. "Really?" I was actually impressed. "That's great Tails! Show me?"

He smiled and gripped the stone with both hands. He let go of it and his hands began to glow faintly. The glow grew until it took the shape of a ball in his palms, and he opened his hands toward the sea. He released it, but was suddenly blasted backwards. I ran and caught him just in time, almost falling overboard myself. I looked at him as I set him down, and he just smiled sheepishly.

"TAILS!" Someone yelled from below. We both looked ahead and, right in front of where Tails had been standing, there was a huge gape in the floor. We both walked over and looked down to see all the girls sitting at a table below, glaring up at us.

"Tails! What did I tell you? Don't try out your new power until we're on land, less you wanna sink us!" Valentine snapped.

"S-sorry, I didn't mean to use so much.."

"SONIKUU!" Amy squealed, jumping up and struggling to climb out of the hole. I helped her up and she glomped me, knocking me down and covering me in kisses. "When did you wake up? Are you feeling okay?"

"Just a minute ago. And I feel great, actually. Never better." I said. I somehow found myself smiling like an idiot while trying to pry her off. "Oh yeah, where's Knuckles?"

"He's been sulking." Rouge flew up out of the hole, pointing to the red echidna on the other end of the boat, past the mast.

"What, why?"
