~Cream~

I just sat there on the big fluffy bed, in the room I'd been given. The same thought had kept floating around, refusing to leave my head:

'Why did I agree?'

Was I betraying my friends? No. I was going to help them. That was all Lavender was trying to do..right?

The conversation with her the evening before wouldn't stop haunting me either. A dark Sonic really would exist.. And not just the 'Dark Sonic' we had seen before.. It would be more like a demonic Sonic. The negative effect of the gems of hope would not only give Sonic power like Super Sonic's; but it would cause him to lose all control. Lavender stressed to me how important it was to find them and stop them; and I agreed. She explained that if they had one of us on their side, maybe the others would listen. They promised to keep me safe, no matter what.

Since tracking them down would just take too much time and would be nothing more than a useless game of hide and seek, she had explained, then it would be best to find the other gems before they did. That way, we'd meet up eventually.

So there I was, mixed and worried thoughts running through my mind, waiting for someone to come and get me so that I could tag along in case we ran into Sonic.

There was a light knock at my door, and I jumped, startled. "C-come in."

The door cracked open, and a yellow-hued catlike girl pushed her way through. She had a blue sweater with big glasses and a pair of goggles on her head. Her orange hair was around shoulder-length, with side swept bangs. Her bright blue eyes were warm and inviting, and she had a sort of sheepish look when she walked in.

"Hi.. Um.. Cream?" She asked.

"Y-yes?"

"I'm.. Cakt. Cakt the Hedgecat. I'll be taking care of you. You'll be traveling with me and Indigo."

She walked up to me and extended a hand. I just looked at it, then looked back up at her. I didn't know what to do.

She just laughed nervously and let her hand fall back to her side. The room fell silent for a while, then she sighed and sat on the bed beside me. "You're scared, aren't you?" I just looked away. "It's okay. I was scared my first day too. But you'll see that this is the right way."

"The right way?" I glanced up at her. Then, Lavender's statement from yesterday came to my mind. "But..how can you believe anything if you don't see it for yourself?"

She shrugged. "Beats me. Let's go, though, before Indigo blows our heads off." She walked to the door and opened it, then leaned in with a whisper. "He's freaking scary if you ask me!"

I felt my fur stand on end and rushed out, hoping I wouldn't 'get my head blown off'. But no more than a few steps passed before I ran into something and fell back on my backside.

"Hello."

I glanced up to see Indigo, grinning evilly from ear to ear. I squeaked in fear and jumped around, running into Cakt. I hugged her. Even though she was on their side, something was different about her. I felt comfortable with her already.

"Ready to move out, kids?" He asked normally, his hands on his hips.

"Yeah. C'mon, bunny, it's okay." The hedgecat said in a kind voice, leading me down the hall.

They lead me outside, where there was a large fenced in area. In the area was a small white plane. I squinted and was lead blindly, since it was the first time I had seen actual sunlight in almost two days. When my eyes finally adjusted, I found myself inside the plane. It didn't look like a normal plane you would travel in, though. Or at least not like the ones I had seen in my cartoons. It only had a small seating area with a little table and a mini fridge, and the pilot's area was right there with no other separation other than glass windows on either side.
