"Don't do it, Amy! Just don't do it!"

"I'm doing it, Val!"

"No! Have mercy!"

"I need to eat something besides mangos!" Amy swung her hammer down on the burrow she had found before dropping it and crying out in pain.

Valentine smiled. "That's what ya get for trying to scare out a ground squirrel thing!"

"No," I snapped. Valentine had been getting on my nerves. "She's already injured. And she doesn't need to overdo it." I added the last part while looking to Amy. She just looked down.

"Oh sweetie, when did you get injured? And where?" Rouge asked, walking over to her.

Amy put her hand over where I remembered the wound to be, concealed with her jacket. "Nothing.. I'm okay.. I just forgot about it and now it hurts a little."

Rouge just blinked. Amy hadn't given an answer.

"Guys, I've heard insects are a good source of protein." Came Knuckles. We all shuddered at his statement.

"Gross, babe." Rouge said, shunning him in disgust.

"I think we should move out soon. We've been just sitting here for too long." I said, standing and walking Amy to the body of water behind her. She let me take the jacket off and look at her wound. It wasn't as bad as it had been the day before.

"But Sonic.." Tails began to advise. "It's getting late and we need to rest for the night. Plus we should probably bathe while we're near this river.."

My ears twitched, but I didn't say anything as I gently splashed the wound in attempt to clean it. We needed to keep moving. Had Tails forgotten that we were in a race for a set of hidden magical gems that had great power equivalent to that of the chaos emeralds? We needed to get them before Lavender caught onto the idea. But when it came to general survival, he was right.

"How about us girls have the right half of the river, and you boys have the left?" Rouge suggested. "It's pretty long and is kind of cut in half by all those trees, so, y'know, we'll have privacy."

"I'm not bathing with him." Shadow said, gesturing toward me.

I scoffed. "I don't want to either." I said in offense. I had thought we were becoming friends, but I didn't like the way he was having an attitude toward me lately. Even after he had saved my life by pulling me to the surface during the storm. I just couldn't understand him.

"C'mon guys! We need to get along." Tails said.

"Sonikku.. Get along." Amy whined, looking up at me with her shining emerald eyes. I scoffed lightly and looked away.

"I know what to do." Rouge said, digging in the bag on her arm as she walked closer to me. "C'mere, Shads." She said. He obeyed. She got out something metal and before I knew it, I was handcuffed to Shadow's wrist.

"Rouge!' Shadow growled, pulling. I pulled back, trying not to let my arm get ripped off.

"You guys are going to be handcuffed until you get along." Rouge said, swinging the key in our faces. Shadow grabbed for it, but she jerked it away with a smirk.

"Uh, Rouge.. Why do you carry handcuffs with you?" Amy asked.

"You never know when you're going to need to handcuff two idiots together."

"Let's just go, everyone, before it gets dark." Tails said.

Rouge nodded. "No peeking. I'm not afraid to pick the eyes out of you big bad boys if you get all pervy." She said with a warning glare, before turning on her heel and strutting away. Valentine flashed us a smile and skipped away after her. Amy got up and blew me a kiss before following. I unconsciously stared after her, and next thing I knew I was being dragged by Shadow.
